Try this neat Crochet Colour Lovers Afghan featuring Bernat Softee Chunky.
The tutorial below shows the steps involved but, of course, it is using Bernat Blanket in the tutorial. The multiples are the same as this pattern. Instead of using double trebles with Bernat Blanket, it's using trebles instead. So there is a slight difference in the stitches asked for, heigh wise.
Get the free pattern at thecrochetcrowd.com/crochet-co... #crochet #learntocrochet #crochettutorial .
This video is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. The captioning is also available in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The written pattern is only available in English. . *** .

This reminds me of Apache Tears. I tried several Apache Tears patterns only to get frustrated. You have explained this perfectly for me! Thank you 😊

Kudos to you to be able to use a hook with such a short neck with that yarn doing a treble crochet stitch. I love Bernat blanket yarn.

Beautiful afghan. The picture looks like it has fringe. I wouldn't weave in all those ends. I'd make each row as the length of the afghan about 5 feet long and use the tails as the fringe. Only make the number of rows you want to get it as wide as you want. No ends to weave in and built in fringe to boot.

This version with the colors/ quantities, nor the diagram that I love, isn't available anymore. Only version #2. Do have a question, it this like the Apache Tears pattern I learned in the early 1970's?

Yes, this is an old name for this stitch. Looks like they reworked the pattern. The colours and yarn quantities are still on the pattern.

At the very end of the last row, you did the front-post double treble (fpdtr) around a green post that was only 1 row below. I thought we were supposed to crochet around the corresponding post 2 rows below our working row? If so, wouldnt that last fpdtr be worked around the post in the white-colored row, located TWO rows below our working row?? I hope my question makes sense. I'm awfully sleepy so I can hurry will be confused and confusing at the same time! Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial! I have been wanting to learn this Stitch for a very long time and I'm very excited about being able to make a blanket from it now! Happy happy!

This looks so fun to make and is very pretty, but it seems like when you cover up with it you would get a toe tangled up in it? So are the stitches ment to be loose or tight? If tight wouldn't it make the afghan pucker up ?

Also, The colors used in the completed, afghan shown at the end are gorgeous! I notice there are 4 colors in that afghan... they used the green, white and red that you used in your tutorial and added a 4th color, gold. And it screams "Holidays" to me. 😊 Is there a rule for this pattern regarding the number of colors needed for maximum effect? And, is there a number of colors that are considered to be just too much?

Hi. When you did the last stitch on row 7. Are you supposed to only go down 1 row with the dtc?

On row number 7 the second to last stitch....why do you put a double treble into the red instead of the white? Does the pattern change before you start row number 8?

ON row 7, you double Tribled n the green and not the white. Is that correct?
@dianerole6805

He double trebled on the red post instead of the white and that was wrong. He probably didn't notice it anymore. But it should always be two colors down.

Very nice, but I must tell you that in your sample you don’t have a multiple of 5 stitches.

It is a variation of Apache Tears which is usually based on a single crochet and a double or treble stitch that drops down as Mikey shows.

Since you are referring to the pattern, I wish you had followed it or explained the difference and why as you went,. also there is no link to the diagram so we can figure out the difference ourselves... if we can. I will probably not follow it myself since i plan on using small yarn and making a fringed scarf as well as a non fringe throw. Okay, why do a DC row instead of a SC row? And why are you doing a front post instead of catching the front loop of the stitch? Why choose a DC instead of the HDC? And why the DTC instead of a TC? Okay, a lot of questions I know, but inquiring minds want to know! I love all the different patterns I find with you. Thank you for taking the time to make these. It can take me up to two weeks to make a small item video, with all the re-do's, and up to a month to make a large one like you do. I just am not comfortable using thick yarn so my projects always take a lot longer for me, in the making too. (A LOT more stitches! LOL)
