Beautiful pattern! Thank you so much. ❤️ And I want to tell you how thrilled and so surprised that you used the words “ lie flat” and “lying flat”. This is the only time I have EVER heard an American using the correct words. Most Americans and now, unfortunately Australians , by copying, are using the words LAY and LAYING. Which are totally incorrect. LAY means to place or put something. LIE in this context means to assume a horizontal or resting position. We LIE down on our bed. Or we LAY a book on a table. Thanks so much for not making me cringe🥴as I do very often with the misuse of the word LAY. 😘

I love this pattern when using the Lily Sugar N Cream Scrub Off Yarn, which can be a bit fiddlely if the pattern is too complex. At 8:18 minutes at the first decrease you do not mention the single crochet stitch after the decrease before you turn the work. Going frame by frame I could see you do the SC before turning the corner. I wonder if others got confused there too? Thanks

Good pattern and explanation for a newbie here. I do have one area of confusion. In creating the border, as you reach the last corner, near where you started, are there not three SC at that corner as done in the other three corners? If so, were they done at the beginning of the border? Or, were they added after the last edge? If so, is the finish stitch part of the corner and therefore there are only 2 SC in the final corner? I'm not sure I'm expressing this well at all. Hopefully my clear confusion or lack of crochet experience gives you enough info you can clarify for how to wrap up my project. Thank you!

Square isn't quite 🤔 square? Could be you missed an increase or a decrease somewhere along the way. Rectangular shape. If you're familiar with making a C2C blanket, it's the same concept. Once the desired width is attained begin decreasing (sc2tog) at that corner while continuing to increase (grow the length) by placing 2sc in the last stitch at the opposite corner. The same holds true for length. Once you've attained the desired length begin decreasing (sc2tog) at that corner as well. Hope this helps.🤗

I know this video is very old, but I am fairly new to crocheting. I have started a few blankets over the years and gave up. I am not working on a zig zag style blanket and decided to start washcloths too. Well, I found this video and liked the diagonal idea. I started off too loose and then kept a pretty tight (but even) tension along the cloth. My increases and decreases turned out well. My problem was the border.....it was awful trying to figure out where to place the single crochet. Also, since I started out loose my initial corner was odd and pointy compared to the rest of the corners. I wound up pulling the entire washcloth out and will try again. Any tips for that beginning corner?

@TheUpNorthHome
@TheUpNorthHome 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it would work. You would have a square blanket if you did an increase of both sides. If you wanted a rectangle, you'd have to figure out the increases. But it would be beautiful. Even just straight, with the ripples would be very pretty on a blanket.

@TheUpNorthHome
@TheUpNorthHome 5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what happened if you followed the directions with a last row of increase, then doing decrease rows. Did you finish the washcloth with a border of sc's, putting 3 sc in each corner stitch and see how it looks at the end? The 3 stitches in the corners will help to define the corner and make sure it doesn't roll-up. I hope that helps.
