I've been making these for 2 years now in cotton & acrylic as part of spa sets. To those who found these not as soft or absorbent or lather producing, I share a secret from my grandmother, all yarns have processing residues on them. Before gifting or using any crochet item, gramma said it must be washed in lukewarm to hot water with washing soda, borax or baking soda to remove these residues. She added that she put 1/4c common white vinegar in the rinse water for softness. I do this with all my crochet items & find items like washcloths, poufs, soap savers to be much softer & absorbent. Thank you for this & all your videos. I love them all.

I used " l love this cotton " from hobby lobby then after I was done I made one more row of slip stitches in each double crochet with Red Hearts " Scrubby " yarn It not only like old cool but it gives a little extra exfoliation

Great project, but man, was it ever bloody long, LOL! If you count all of the stitches, there are over 2,600 altogether. While not complicated, my hands got a little sore, trying to hold the ball and the stitches as I was working. Still, great project! I absolutely love it and I'm getting ready to make a second one. Made mine with Bernat Handicrafter 100% cotton in Chocolate Omb. Next one's in Damask Ombre. Two thumbs up! Highly recommend this!

Is there any way I could keep going on it to make it bigger, or would that just mis-shape it? If you don't happen to get back to me, I'll try it out myself when I try out this loofa! This is a wonderful idea thank you for sharing it! :)

Not as soft, and these are a bit thicker in material than the small netted ones you get in the store, but still does the job, and this cotton/pac yarn is soft and looks better than anything you can buy in the way of a loofah!
@dawnamendola86908 жыл бұрын

@353rave35311 жыл бұрын
So I made a different one but it doesn't lather like a traditional loofah it just sucks in all the soap and water and doesn't do anything. Should I try a different type of yarn?
@irmar12 жыл бұрын
A loofah is not supposed to be soft, it's supposed to scrub a little. That's the point of the nylon ones. With this in view, maybe one should choose a harder yarn? Maybe even string? So it gently scrubs the skin?

I don't know because I live in Israel and have yet to see cotton nylon here though I know it's hard to find in the states too, maybe someone would know if you asked on the facebook group called Crochet 4 the Masses. Friendly bunch of ladies there :)
@Meladora111 жыл бұрын
I don't know, make sure you have a nice circle before you start adding your stitches and make sure you add the stitches in the right stitch. Without seeing what your doing I have no idea.

@NarakuHater13211 жыл бұрын
Does it have to be made with a cotton yarn? Or is acrylic okay as well? ^^
@353rave35311 жыл бұрын
I used sugar n cream, the cone kind, 100% cotton, it just didnt lather. We had to add four times the usual amount of soap just to get a little lather. What brands would I be looking for that have cotton and nylon?
@user-ij7xe4eg6u6 жыл бұрын
It's best to use cotton yarn for these.
@terrace112 жыл бұрын
oh, I see. for me a tapestry needle is much quicker and smoother when sewing through the project and it doesn't snag the yarn. just a little tip for beginners.

K I don't know what just happens I did not press any numbers. I loved your video

Maybe I should just try acrylic or just strictly nylon, Since cotton is traditionally a towel/washcloth type fibre.

Hey I just made mine! How do I send you a picture of it? I actually had a hard time DC 30 into the ring. I was only able to do about 26 but it came out just fine. I used a medium sized cotton yarn with a 5mm hook. I haven't used it yet but some people said that it doesn't work good but they didn't say why. Anyways, thank you for the video! I'll definitely subscribe.

@brendabounds24377 жыл бұрын
I made a couple of these with sugar and cream 100% cotton. I was very pleased with the way they turned out until both my husband and I used these to shower with. We found them to be very dense and don't hold the soap. Am I using the wrong type of yarn or soap (I use dove and he uses old spice bodywash). Overall, a huge disappointment. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
