The Crochet Mad for Plaid Blanket is using Bernat Toasty yarn. This is a plaid based blanket that is created like a graphghan concept. You will need mini balls of yarn in the colours shown.
Included with the free pattern is a diagram to showcase how the colours work together. This concept requires a bit of patience but the end results look really amazing.

I love that this is a Moss Stitch plaid - gorgeous! I'm seeing, in my head, a variation on how to begin the foundation chain... using the chainless foundation single crochet for each chain needed switching/starting a new ball for each section. That will give a solid base to begin, and have the colors available for row one. 😋

Started the project a problem with tangling of 10 balls. Any suggestion how to manage them?
@nuvoclassic
@nuvoclassic 3 жыл бұрын
@@narjisabbas3439 My suggestion is to Abandon all those balls and get different complimentary 'self-striping' yarns instead.....1 color for the vertical filet base and the contrasting color for the vertical 'surface overlay'. You will still need a lot of yarn because it's a blanket. But you won't have to keep track of all those balls - or deal with a gazillion ends....

Thank you so much! I've been looking at this pattern since December trying to make sense of it. I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do with the yarn in between color changes. Having several smaller balls of each color of yarn makes so much sense but I didn't comprehend that note in the pattern. 🤦‍♀️ Now I can finally make my blanket! I'm using Bernat Velvet yarn. It'll be cozy!

I'm guessing this is a yarn eater? Looks lovely and once the overlay has been threaded through it should be warm. That overlay almost looks like you're doing a single crochet through those chain spaces. Thanks Mikey.

@sallyshott4419
@sallyshott4419 3 жыл бұрын
This is really nice. But I hate the sewing in & doing my own colors makes it hard to find the blending colors. So I use doubled yarn, with separate balls for each horizontal and vertical color change. More yarn management but no weaving in and no surface overlay, and you can use any color combination because they blend themselves.

Still popular aftrr two yrs old! I also have never seen anyone use boucule yarn before. Nice to see it in action. Surprisingly i like it but is it soft? I generally associate it as rough rug yarn.
@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd Жыл бұрын
It's very soft but it depends on the choice used. If there is primarily nylon in the product, as it's usually in rugs or mats, then yes, you can associated to carpet grade feel. Yarn generally lacks the nylon quantity that carpet would required.

The finished blanket looks nice in the post photo. However, you made the 'surface overlay' section of this plaid project much too hard by using a crochet hook. A simple technique is to use a darning needle with multiple strands of yarn - which will also automatically create the fringe... Also, using the 'boucle' yarn made the tutorial difficult to watch (even with your disclaimers)... For simplicity, when I do my tartan plaid project I'll use a smooth yarn to double crochet (not SC) with a larger hook to create the 'filet base fabric'. Then I'll use multiple strands of boucle yarn with a darning needle to 'weave' the contrasting lines through the filet openings. This will be much easier and faster for me to complete the project. I'll also use self-striping yarns to avoid the hassle of multiple balls and multiple ends. I did like your suggestion of putting each cake/ball in it's own separate bowl.... I also liked that you time stamped each section...
