I DID IT!!! I tried this as an experiment. Didn't love the colors but chose the colors I had extra of. I had some trouble with the sizing and making sure i had the correct beginning chain. I'll have to get a better handle on it before I do another one. But all in all I'm pretty proud of myself for getting it done. And now that it's done, I don't hate the colors. Yay!!!

June 30 2024: Love the explaination of the filet stitch and ending the row to have a smooth edge. This looks so complicated, but you have shown how it is doable. You are so right when measuring strains and how they grow! Wow that weaving really secures the tassels also. Side note I have never seen a “yarn bobbin”. This makes it so easy with picking colors. Thank you for the pointers and your “mistakes” that gives us notice of what may happen. Just came across your channel and needed a blanket for my teen grandson. This one is perfect. Do you know what the name of the blanket is?
@marylynch89295 ай бұрын
@@SierraSadie1 No idea, sorry. My mother made it all the time, it was her go-to blanket. Everyone she ever met probably got one 😊 Our introduction to crocheting was being allowed to weave the yarn strands with a safety pin and make the fringe. Then she could start one and we could continue the mesh until we could make the whole thing.... but it never did have a name that I knew of. She did like the Magic Crochet magazines, and made from them. But I'm not sure if she got it from there.

This really is a very lovely blanket. I wonder if a line of sewing at each end might just keep those strands secure? (Have you ever done that? I haven’t, but I also have never woven strands through an entire afghan before. I’d be afraid of them being pulled, say, by a hair clip or piece of jewelry or something. I’d think as long as you use thread the same color as the chain row at each end, it wouldn’t be noticeable at all. Just wondering out loud). Thanks for the demonstration of the filet stitch, I’m not familiar with that one because I usually only do zig-zag afghans or something with a minimal-holes stitch. 😊

@marigam12 күн бұрын
I did this blanket(in three colors), tried to weave in those stripes and had to BAIL. OMG I could not cut the yarn into the right size no matter what I did! It’s crazy how I’d cut one piece and it would be drastically different from the next! And even what I did cut I was not at all convinced it was the correct length because when woven in, the tension would vary and I was worried it would be okay now but after I tie everything off it would shrink or pull out and be way longer than needed. It was such a headache! I ended up just leaving the blanket striped and calling it finished! Thank you for the tutorial, I still love the blanket! For anyone planning to do the weaving you HAVE TO COUNT or check OFTEN that you haven’t skipped stitches. It looks like mindless work but the first time I tried weaving in I saw I skipped stitches somehow and you can’t weave in if you’re off even by one square! I basically had to remake the blanket twice over. Now I KNOW I didn’t skip anything but I ended up not weaving anyways😅
