@Kazpersmami hmmmm, wonder what to try, what about after the 1st lot of 5dc's try a chain 3 then slip stitch to the 1st chain and then continue with the other 5 dc's ...may work :)

@Kazpersmami you could try to do a chain 1 after you finish the 1st lot of crochets . did that make sence? ?

You make sence, I tried that but the scale stays rounded at the bottom. I tried doing treble crochets ( 4 dc, 1 tc) but that looks awkward. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your video, I love it! But do you know how to get the ends of the scales pointed?

I do realize this is 8 months old but for anyone else wondering or would like a more pointed scale at the bottom I was watching another tutorial on here on how to do the crocodile stitch as it is called I think, when you have done your first 5 dc, then just do a single chain before doing the other 5 dc on the opposite side, that will give you a more pointed bottom, I hope that helps Kazpersmami :)
