@@CraftersAutonomous I hope you make a video on this project with sheet strips!!! When we move we're getting a new bed it's going to be one of those that has the two bottom parts that go up and down separately. Well to make a long story short it means my bottom sheets were no longer be usable because this takes two twin sheets. So I'll have lots of sheets to crochet with I didn't even know you could crochet with sheets oh my goodness the possibilities!!! I love this idea!!✌️🐞🕉️

Oooh I love this idea! I used to finger crochet the thick chains when I was a kid too. Never came up with any use for them besides making the occasional toy leash for a stuffed animal. But I loved to finger crochet through a whole skein of yarn, and then finger crochet that to make it even thicker. I bet it works up into some thick sturdy baskets!

I've made very large ones with about 22 rounds at the base, to prevent it bowing and becoming misshapen when filled, after the round in the back loop, I decreased by 6 stitches in the next 4 rounds. It's easy to see where to decrease, the same places where you increased, it's very obvious when working with a big hook and chunky/doubled/tripled yarn

@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous Ай бұрын
Ohh I bet they look so cute in their new basket home! Thanks for subscribing! You absolutely can use just one strand of yarn to make this project. If you use a thicker yarn that's the same thickness as using three strands of worsted weight/weigh 4 yarn, then it will work up quickly and be roughly the same size. Otherwise, if you use just one strand of weight 4 yarn, it will turn out smaller if you use the exact same stitch counts I used in the video. But the video shares the basic idea of how to adjust the size, so you can make it as big or little as you want.

its probably the position of your hips and shoulders pinching a nerve change your chair or table height and make sure your feet are flat on the floor sit straight poster helps a lot with my hands not hurting or going numb
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous 2 жыл бұрын
I usually don't get actual cramping in my hands, but I do get pain that I think is repetitive motion strain from crocheting for too long with too much tension. I wear the compression gloves to help with the pain, and while it hasn't "healed" my hands, it does greatly minimize the pain and I can crochet for longer periods without issue. They're also great to wear preventively, so sometimes I'll wear them overnight when I'm sleeping and then crochet the next day without wearing them. When I wear them either while crocheting or for a few hours prior to crocheting, I have little to no pain. You might be interested in the review video I made on these gloves: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmrQl3auqd1sq7s And here are some stretches that have helped me (and that I need to do more often than I currently do! haha): kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmrQl3auqd1sq7s Preventing hand pain when crocheting really comes down to the cause (e.g. is it just because I'm sitting with bad posture or do I have arthritis?), which usually involves a doctor visit to accurately diagnose, but compression gloves and hand stretches are a great starting place for relief at home.

@@CraftersAutonomous haha. It’s more my hands that’re the problems. I hold my yarn really tightly and it’s kinda like I’m clenching my fist the whole time, so my fingers get cramped. I just need to get used to holding it more loosely, I think haha. But yes, good posture is definitely important! Haha

Do you have to use 3 strands of yarn?
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous 6 ай бұрын
Nope! I used 3 strands to make a bulkier, sturdier basket. But you could use the same process with just one strand. If you use a single strand of bulky yarn, it will turn out similar to the 3 strands of weight 4 yarn. If you use say just one strand of weight 4 yarn, the stitches will be smaller. Following the same stitch counts as I showed in the video but with one strand of yarn will create a smaller basket. But if you want the basket to be made from one strand but the same size, you would need to do extra rounds of increasing for the bottom and extra rows going up the side. Hope this info helps!

? So what am I doing wrong my basket just keeps becoming a bigger & bigger circle how do I go about firming up the sides
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous Жыл бұрын
Most likely you are adding stitches to each round without realizing it. 😃 Something that helps me is to use a stitch counter. I mark the first stitch of the round. Then when I'm done working a round, I count to make sure I have the correct number of stitches. Working the same number of stitches each round is what makes the sides go up straight instead of continuing to get wider. Hope this helps!

Is the "P" hook a normal size hook? My gal Palladino went to Walmart, hobby lobby,Joanne's and Michael's to be able to get the hook and they looked at her like she was crazy.
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous 2 жыл бұрын
It's definitely not a common one. I found mine at Walmart several years back, but I'm not sure if they still stock them. This hook was sold in a multi-pack that looks like this one I found on Amazon (amzn.to/3IQgyoo), only difference is the hook colors. Another thing too - Boye sometimes changes what millimeter size corresponds with the hook's letter name. For instance, when I bought a size G Boye hook years ago, it was 4.5mm. But now the size G hooks that Boye sells are 4.25mm. Unfortunately, there's not a standard for what letter goes with what mm. So the current size P hook that Boye sells is 11.5mm, but I think when I bought it they were making the size P hooks 11mm. The good news is with these baskets, the hook size doesn't have to be exact. A smaller hook will just make the stitches tighter and a larger hook will make them looser. Hope this helps!

How do you get it to stand up so well . I have made this with 3 strand and it's floppy . What could I do to prevent that !? Thank you
@CraftersAutonomous
@CraftersAutonomous Жыл бұрын
They're going to be a little floppy no matter what, but to minimize it collapsing, I would try to work the stitches extra tightly. A great way to make the stitches tighter would be to use as small of a hook size as you can for the thickness of your yarn. The tight stitches tend to have a little more structure and be more sturdy. And lastly, different yarns will be stiffer than others. If the yarn is really soft and has less "structure" to it, the basket will be a little floppier. Hope this helps!
