i’m replying here so i and others can find it! i made a written pattern so i can watch netflix while i crochet haha! crochet cardigan by emma p - makes uk size 8-10 - written pattern materials scissors tape measure tapestry needle stitch markers 4mm hook 250 grams of cotton aran yarn 50 grams of alternate color pattern creating back panel 1: create slip knot, ch 71 2: hdc in the third ch from hook and in each ch until end. ch 2 and turn. 3: front loop hdc in each st until end. ch 2 and turn. 4-40: repeat row 3. should measure approx. 15 in. creating front panel **measure 6.5 inches/28 chains from each end (lengthwise, parallel with your rows) and mark with a st marker at the top. middle measurement between st markers should be approx. 3.25 in 41: front loop hdc until 1 st before st marker. ch 2 and turn. (27) 42-77: front loop hdc in next 27 sts. ch 2 and turn. **tie off. attach yarn to other end of back panel. ch 2. 78: front loop hdc in next 27 sts from end, mirroring the other side of the front panel. ch 2 and turn. 79-114: front loop hdc in next 27 sts. ch 2 and turn. creating armholes **drape front and back panels over yourself and measure arm holes. mark symmetrically on both sides with st marker. sl st front and back panels together on each side, starting at the bottom and sl st-ing up to the armhole marker. tie off. attach yarn on other side and repeat. DONT TIE OFF. **flip garment inside out, this will be the right side of the garment. ch 2 with loop in armhole. hdc in each st around armhole. sl st to third st from beginning st. ch 2 and turn. front loop hdc in each st around armhole. sl st to top of first st and tie off. attach yarn to other armhole and repeat on other side. adding trim **attach alternate color to armhole and ch 3. dc in each st around armhole. sl st to top of first st and tie off. repeat on other side. **add st marker on each side of front panel 5 in from bottom of garment, symmetrically. **attach alternate color anywhere around edge. ch 3. dc in each st until st marker. ch for 13.5 in for ties. sl st in each ch until you get back to your main garment. continue to dc around edge until you get to your next st marker, and repeat for ties. continue to dc in each st around edge. sl st to top of first st and tie off. **weave in all ends and you’re finished!

I just tuned in briefly...so maybe I already missed your instruction on how to measure to find out how many chains you need to have your top fit? Was the 17.5 your back width measurement in inches? 😊. Oooops.... Sorry I just clicked back on and I do see that you explained some of that. May I ask though, does that mean you took a measurement around your back from side, that under where your rib cage would be, in the front? First I measured all the way around and that was way too many... but when I went across just the back from side to side... it came out to be about 17 to 17.5. so do you just take the measurement around the back from side to side? 1:29 thnku...😊

Hi!! I normally do some research on like the shape i want first, so I watch some videos to see how others achieve a certain shape and then i add on/take away until i get the shape/style i want! That is normally what i do, just do research on the basic shape and then change it around to suit the style i am going for! And thank you so much!!! 💓💓💓💓

hiii!! i was wondering if hook size will affect my final product (if i am using the same size as u)? for example: i used the same measurements + yarn weight as u but i used a 3.75mm hook and it made everything super tiny! would u recommend a 4.25mm or 5mm for the same yarn? also congrats on hitting 23k!! i just noticed u said u hit 3k when this video came out and you've grown so much!! u deserve all of this love 🥰🥰

Hi! I’d reccomend using a 4mm or a 4.5 to get the same look as me! But a 5mm would deffo work as well! And thank you so much💓

Hi! Measure around your back- ribcage to ribcage and add an extra inch or two! Hold this up to youself and see if you are happy with the length before you start on the half double crochets x

Hi! I don’t have any specific measurments as it is always better and the most accurate to measure on yourself to see how many inches you will need! Hi! Find where you want your cardigan to sit (at your waist/hip/lower ect.) and then meaure around your back at that point! That will be your width x

Hi! I’d say about 120-150ish grams! Not 100% sure cause i didn’t check how much yarn i had at that stage but I’d assume it was about that amount 💓💓
