Crochet Top / Blouse With Squares

Someone will need to make this neater. I'm not a designer, so I don't make patterns at all. But here is what I got down for written instructions. It will probably be confusing. I have been dying for a written pattern. chain 5. slip st into 1st stitch. chain 1 8 SC into circle sl st into top of 1st chain chain 3 (acts as 1st DC) then DC into same st 2 DC into each of the following stitches (16 DC total) slip stitch into top of next chain (the top of the 3 chain) chain 4 (the chain 3 acts as the DC and the 4th chain acts as a chain 1) DC into next chain, chain 1 (repeat until the end) slip stitch into top of the chain 3 (originally the chain 4) SL ST INTO 1ST CH SPACE *You will be doing a 3 DCtog: ch 2 (acts as 1st DC); then yarn over, pull up a loop, pull thru 2 loops, yarn over pull up a loop, pull thru 2 loop, then pull thru all 3 loops remaining on your hook ch 3 3 DCtog. with the extra chain from the chain 3, you will end up pulling thru 4 loops on your hook at the end. repeat until the end. you will end up chaining 3 at the end, and then you will sl st into the top of the 1st chain of the round. chain 1 SC into same st *chain 3 SC into top of 1st chain in the 3 DCtog chain 5 SC into top of 1st ch in the 3 DCtog* repeat until you have the last remaining chain 5 to do. Instead of chaining 5 and then sl st into the top of the next chain, you will chain 2, and then DC into the 1st SC you made at the beginning of the round. chain 3 (acts as DC); DC 3 more times into same ch space SC into next ch space 3 DC chain 5 3 DC into next ch space SC into next ch space 7 DC into next ch space SC into next ch sp 3 DC chain 5 3 DC into next ch space SC into next ch sp 7 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC chain 5 3 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 7 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC chain 5 3 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 7 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC chain 5 3 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC into next ch sp sl st into top of chain 3 sl st into next chain chain 5 sk all stitches until 1st ch 5 space. (1st corner) 3 DC, chain 5, 3 DC chain 5 skip all the remaining sts, skip the 1st SC you made in the prev round, then SC into the 3rd st of the orig 7 DC you made in the previous round chain 3 skip 1 chain SC into next ch chain 5 skip sts until 2nd 5 chain sp (2nd corner) 3 DC chain 5 3 DC repeat until end of round. you will end with chaining 5 and SC in the 3rd DC of the original 7DC from prev round. chain 3, skip 1 st, SC in last st sl st into next ch sp chain 3 (acts as DC), then put 4 more DC into same ch sp *DC into next 3 sts 3 DC into next ch sp, chain 3, 3 DC DC into next 3 sts 5 DC into next ch sp 3 DC into next ch sp 5 DC into next ch sp DC into next 3 sts 3 DC chain 3 3DC DC into next 3 sts* repeat until the end, you will end with 3 DC in the last ch sp where you then join/sl st into top of starting ch 3 of the round. chain 1 SC into same st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 3 sk next 2 sts, SC DC chain 3, DC SC into same ch sp ch 3 sk next 2 sts, SC into 3rd st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st ch 5 sk next 3 sts, and SC into the 4th st you will have 2 sts left, so chain 3 and SC DC chain 3 DC SC into the ch sp* repeat until the end of the round

half squares for the bottom: chain 5, slip st into first st. chain 1 5 SC into circle ch 3 and turn. ^^^ that ch 3 acts as the first DC. So then DC again in the same st in all of the following sts, put 2 DC into each one turn work ch 4 and DC into next st DC and ch 1 into all the following chains like previously when doing the full granny squares, when you get to the last st, you will DC into the top of the ch of the original ch 3 - ch 3 and then turn. You are then doing the 3 dctog and then ch 3 like we did before. when you get to the end, do the last 3 dctog and then chain 5 and turn SC in first ch sp then chain 3 SC into next ch sp, chain 5 repeat until the last ch sp, SC into last ch sp, chain 3 and then DC into the top of the 3dctog chain from prev round ch 6 then turn place 3 DC into the same ch sp SC into next ch sp 7 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC ch 5 3 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 7 DC into next ch sp SC into next ch sp 3 DC ch 5 then ***ONE DC*** chain 6, turn 3 DC into ch sp ch 5 SC into 3rd st from original 7 DC from prev round ch 3, sk 1 st, SC ch 5, sk all stitches until corner, then 3 DC ch 5 3 DC into that ch sp ch 5, SC into 3rd st from the 7 DC from prev round ch 3, sk 1 st, SC ch 5, sk all sts until corner, then 3 DC **CH 3 THEN 1 DC** into the ch sp ch 5, turn 3 DC into same ch sp DC into next 3 sts 5 DC into next ch sp 3 DC into next ch sp 5 DC into next ch sp DC into next 3 sts in next ch sp, 3 DC ch 3 3 DC DC into next 3 sts --repeat until the end and at the end you will put 3 DC then ch 2 and then DC in the last ch sp then ch 1. fasten off

It would be very helpful to know if you showed each round as you finish it so everyone knows what to expect. It is not enough that you share your tutorial unless you give clear & concise instructions for each round. For this reason it is very difficult to make this top because it becomes confusing. Good luck & hopefully your future tutorials will have better instructions & viewing for everyone to see

Anything smaller than category 3 yarn scares me. How do you see the stitches?! I’m always worried I missed something.

It’s same for me too. But for this square it was so easy because after the second row you will use the chain spaces or the stitch after chain spaces (there is only one stitch after it so you can’t miss it) It’s easy, I think you should try and see ☺️
