I just want to say thank you so much for this video!! Thanks to you, I FINALLY got how to turn at the ends!! I am 54 years old and gave up the ripple stitch in my 20s because I just couldn't get it. My rows were always uneven so all I ever did was granny squares and then quit it all for years. I decided I was going to beat it one way or another, and that's when I found your video. You are so thorough and patient.... I'm just so happy I found you!!!! :)

Waves have been sitting in the bleachers for me for years... this is such a abig help,,, i'm taking notes and paying attention to the visual... your honesty about "fudging" stitches is cute,, only the good crocheters know this...i wanted to share that in the end stitch, i mostly go "into the space" for the last stitch.. is easy to find and sometime leaves a space which helps when trying to get a nice even edging..LOVE you tuts

My great grandma always made her blankets like this and when I taught myself to crochet some 10+ years ago I tried to learn how to do this pattern without any luck. I haven't crocheted in a few years and just discovered the bobble pattern that I'm going to start trying to do soon, but after that I'm definitely giving the ripple pattern another shot. Thanks for the great video!

Mikey, I was having trouble on a pattern to make a baby afghan but I Googled on how to crochet a wave or ripple & I really liked how you showed the basics of the ripple afghan, how many stitches, what to look for to make sure you are on the correct course, how to finish into that hidden stitch so the sides would be even, & without using a pattern what I needed to know before starting. I watched your entire U-Tube first to get the feel of how to proceed & then practiced along with you. Thanks!

I have learned sooooo much from you! I consider myself a begginer. I have made a few baby blankets and hats and flowers and scarves. I know the basic stitches and the shell. Just now found this tutorial for how to do the wave stitch. I'm tired of the sharp ripple and wanted to try something new. I love how you said people are going to get tired of the #3 ... sorry, not with me! I've been obsessed with 3s for a good long many years before even I started crocheting! My favorite NASCAR driver was #3 (still is today) and the granny square is my go-to pattern for when I want something to do with my hands that's mundane and all I ever do is count by variations of the #3 (3s, 6s, 9s, etc) So once you said everything is worked in 3's, you piqued my interest big time!

My grandmother used to make us ripple afghans all the time. Sadly, we lost her last October before I was really getting into crocheting again and could learn this from her. Now I understand why she said this was the hardest easy pattern she used and always had to stop at a certain point before she would speak to anyone. I can't wait to finally make these for my nieces and nephews that were never lucky enough to get one from our Mawmaw. Thank you for making this so simple to understand and follow!!

NOTE to self: To see how to change colours go to minute marker 19. Thanks for a great tutorial. I sure made a lot of mistakes on the first row and had to go back and rip out, but the second row goes a lot more smoothly. I really like this version of the ripple stitch because it has a nice deep ripple. Some other versions barely have a wave in the pattern.

hello..you would have to look at your project and figure out the stitch counts but you could start with a sc at the top of one of the peaks or points and then as you go down into the valley of each wave you could make taller stitches as you go and then shorter stitches as you come back up out of the valley of the wave...
