This is an old Re-Upload from my other channel, I made these blanket tutorials back when I was a baby youtube, The edit quality is bad , there is music in the background, and I apologize for all of that, I thank you so much for your patience with me when it comes to these old re-uploads :)

Such a lovely pattern, I'm halfway done making it as a wedding gift for my friend. The three-dimensional structure makes it so interesing and squishy! I did so much math figuring out the size I could get out of my yarn based on my swatch - and it ended up being exactly the number of chains from the pattern 😄 If you want to try it with your own measurements do not make the initial chain the width of the blanket you want! For me it shrank around 30% from the chevrons. The multiple is 14 + 2 (for example 226 chains is (16 * 14) + 2 which gives 16 Vs)

I’ve made several of those afghans over the years and they held up very well and were always a big hit with whoever I made them for. Very cushy and comfortable. In fact I still have my original booklet that this pattern came in.

Here's another instance of you reading my mind! I've been wanting to make an afghan or lap robe in a ripple pattern & this is it!!! Very unique! Thank you for another excellent tutorial that I will definitely be making. I love the ripple pattern, but have only done it once - a kit I got in1969, done in browns, reds , & golds. It was beautiful! That's the project that taught me the hard lesson of ALWAYS, ALWAYS writing the hook size I am using on a pattern! Halfway through it, I made a major move & the hook got lost! I picked up the recommended size hook (didn't remember that I'd changed hook size for gauge😢!) & went along my merry way. The hook was slightly too small!!!! A girlfriend asked for it a few years ago!

I, too, have a brown, orange, and gold afghan made from a 1960s kit AND about 1/3 of it has a curved sides due to a change to a smaller hook size. 😊

I just recently learned the “hook size lesson” and had to frog that project😮Always, Always make a note of the hook size unless you are the rarest breed of crocheter who always uses the recommended hook size (but many times the “recommended” is a size range-so, you’re dead in the water [on a lily pad!] right out of the chain if you didn’t write it down)🤭

Hi Corinna (spelling! 😑)… I’ve texted this tutorial to myself. When fall arrives I will make this. It’s already so hot where I live. (Another reason I wish I had learned thread crochet when I was younger.) I also wish that I had learnt to hold my crochet hook as you do. It would make it easier for thread crochet I believe. The way I was taught was to hold it as Americans hold their utensils in their dominate hand. Fine for yarn crochet but not great for finer work. Thank you again for another wonderful pattern/tutorial. I cannot wait for the next one! I love the Mystery series but I also love them all! Without a doubt this my fav KZbin channel. Xxoo

Found this on the internet: The number of multiples you start with is the same number of Vs you'll make. For example, if you choose a multiple of (12 x 6) + 2, you'll have 6 Vs. The width of your project is based on your crochet hook and yarn choice, as well as your tension. Hope this helps

On my second blanket. I love this pattern. Very soft! ...but 226 stitches on original chain is not working for me....? On my first blanket I thought I may have counted wrong or put in a wrong stich somewhere BUT same thing on second blanket and I was SUPER careful to count and recount stitches. Is it just me or does it not come out correctly? I will be trying another one again, just because this is such a beautiful blanket. Also, it's not a real big deal as I can undo the extra stitches in the original chain and tie it off, but I'm curious if anyone else has had this happen? Maybe I just miscounted.....again lol!

Sorry I had to reword my reply hopefully it is more simple to understand. Just chain 28 then keep adding 14 over and over until you have the width you want then add 2 more. For example 28+14+14+14+2=72 Or... 28+14+14+14+14+14+14+14+2=128 Just remember it's a chevron pattern so make your base chain a bit wider than your target width because it will condense down once you start working the rows. Hope this helps you and other Happy Crocheting ❤

Ripple requires an even number on the foundation row. Count how many stitches are in a set of peaks and valleys. Then add together how many sets you will need to get the width you want. Don't forget to add two to your total for that set of doubles on either end of the row.
