Thank you so much for this idea! I had some very thin yarn that I kept pushing aside because I couldn't work with it single strand. The 3 strand method creates a very nice thickness that I am now able to use.

I was wondering if you had advice for the opposite transformation? I have lots of thick yarn that I'd like to unwind for fingering yarn for socks. How many strands do I need?
@HandMadeRukodelky4 жыл бұрын
The best way to do it is go to a yarn store and look at the thickness of a sock yarn. You will need at least one more pair of hands to help you with unwinding. It is a really time consuming task though. I might do a video demonstration one day.
@MemoTheLost4 жыл бұрын
@@HandMadeRukodelky Thank you for replying! I have since gone and taken the time to unwind a ball for a pair of fingering weight gloves I wanted to make. You weren't kidding about it being time consuming. @.@ lol

@atifashahul19297 жыл бұрын
can we make one ball of yarn first and start crochet? can we make it into ball without getting tangle?
@HandMadeRukodelky7 жыл бұрын
yes you can - I would first draw the yarn through the loop, smooth it, draw the yarn through another loop, smooth it, (and perhaps do it one more time making sure it will not get tangled) and then start winding it into a ball, when near the loop, put the ball down and start with loop/smooth process again... make sure you spread your "trippled" yarn rather around instead of on one pile - that way it will not get tangled - I hope you can understand what I am trying to say 🌻🌹🌷🌼

@HandMadeRukodelky7 жыл бұрын
Hi Aysha - I think you should play video several times and notice how I am folding the yarn and pulling it through, so you completely understand what I am doing (you can slow down the video in settings too to slow it down even more), then you start doing it yourself each time you fold and pull the next yarn length through the loop - do it only once - smooth it and immediately wind it into a ball so it doesnt get tangled - I am usually very careful with my yarn and do it 2-3 times before smoothing and winding it into a ball - but I would suggest you making just one fold and then wind it to a ball immediately.... good luck
@christygabany73958 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video. 😊 Do you think this would work for loom knitting and Tunisia crochet?
@HandMadeRukodelky8 жыл бұрын
+Christy Gabany - absolutely - you just treat it as 1 strand
@emilyhaymond86108 жыл бұрын
can u do this and arm crochet ?
@HandMadeRukodelky8 жыл бұрын
yes you can use this technique for arm knitting - what you need to do is always grab all three strands when pulling yarn through each stitch (loop)

Does it work with two strands?
@HandMadeRukodelky8 жыл бұрын
Hi - for two strand yarn I would do this - pull the yarn from the middle (which you can locate on the inside of the ball) and combine it with other end that you will locate on the outside...

How about a super chunky ? I found a cute pattern but it need 1032 oh no i dont have any super bulky
@HandMadeRukodelky Жыл бұрын
For super chunky you might have to add an extra one or two strands of very thin yarn. You would have to see and try how many strands would make your super chunky, desired yarn strand.

will you show how to do 2strands please lol
@HandMadeRukodelky8 жыл бұрын
+Mary Mcdonagh - unfortunately you cannot fold it so it would have 2 strands - what I would do is either take 2 balls and use each strand and start crocheting, OR use both ends from one ball = one end from inside of the ball and second end from outside of the same ball and crochet with those two strands
