The written pattern that I saw, said to ch 2 at the beginning of each round. That would have been more normal for rounds of hdc. You wouldn't have that crazy column of bumps!

We were just talking about AI in our department meeting this morning! We are book designers and we tried ChatGPT to see if it could guide us in book design. Like you, we got mixed results. The textual instructions and suggestions were good enough, but not anything we either didn't already know or didn't know where to find the information. The images got close but, upon further inspection, needed cleaning up. Talking two different eye colors and eye shapes in the same face, three legged animals, an odd perspective-less winding stone path to nowhere. The images are also problematic because they pull from already extant sources online, some of which probably are copyrighted. As far as crochet, it didn't occur to me to use it for crafting. AAHHHH I love it for that. I asked it to create a cat bed for me using worsted weight yarn and it came back with a good pattern, down to the dimensions. Thanks for this video. It was fun.
@darcyfabre Жыл бұрын
Oh, so cool that you got a good pattern for a cat bed! I played with the image generators for a while, but that has little purpose for me, so I stopped using it. Last night, my husband and I watched a video about the paintings of Zdzislaw Beksinski, and it struck me immediately that some images I had generated with Midjourney were so strikingly similar to Beksinski's work. There's no doubt in my mind that his work was used in the training of the models. Especially for more "dreamlike" images, which is what I was prompting.

really fun video! i do think perhaps the way you hold the working yarn may be messing with your tension? i'm still new-ish to crochet so i may be wrong 😅 eagerly waiting for another video!! definitely loving your vibe
@darcyfabre Жыл бұрын
Would you mind elaborating on that a little? I've seen people hold their working yarn all sorts of ways, but I'm not sure what you mean by messing with my tension. I taught myself to crochet in high school nearly a decade ago, so I could totally be doing it wrong and have never realized.

This was a lovely video and you did a fantastic job filming and editing. But I couldn't help but notice you reading the pattern differently than how it was shown here: On step 4. (if the text underneath is the same as what you read aloud) It said to "Chain 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc into same stitch" but instead you chained 4 and then criticized the pattern for this choice even though that was your mistake for misreading it. Also, at the end of each row it was asking you to "sl st to join at the top of the last ch 2", but instead you incorrectly assumed it was asking you to join at the top of the first hdc. You have great charisma and you're super pretty. Loved the video. Have a beautiful day, love
@darcyfabre Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes. The pattern read "join to the top of the beginning ch-2" in every row and my brain added a phantom comma, leading me to "join to the top of the beginning, ch-2". It then asks at the beginning of every row to chain 2, so I ended up with 4. I was working on this in real-time and didn't catch it in editing. Thanks for watching!

I have the feeling it's not 'creating' the pattern, it's scraping the pattern from blogs. 🤷♀️

It depends what kind of hdc you've been doing. If it's in US or UK terms, so for the bigger hdc it might be ok with 4ch.

I was doing US hdc. I'm not familiar with UK terms. Is UK hdc similar to US dc?

This is hilarious. Eventually AI will be able to create any pattern. It sure helps me calculate stitches I need to cast on as I am mathematically challenged and not able to understand any explanation from a human...not like anyone has the patience anymore to teach but that's besides the point But I still think that creators will exist and perhaps some laws about copyright will be needed so that AI won't take over the world....

I think you may have misread the patterns for the chains. I saw it mentioning to slip stitch into the previous chain 2 to complete the round, but it didn't say to chain 2 at the end. It said to chain 2 at the beginning of each round. So you accidentally (I think) chained 4 (2 at end, 2 at start) when the pattern (at least the first few rounds anyway) only said to chain 2 at the start.

We're in a really interesting time where lots of people (like me) are documenting so much of their lives and processes that I think it's easier now to find out how certain things are made. I'm very much clinging to the hope that AI will be a tool and not a replacement for human innovation.
