I love this! I have been making bags out of nylon construction string from the hardware store for years. To stop the ends from fraying, you can melt them with a lighter. This bag will last basically for eternity 😂

😂😂 this yarn in single crochet is really tough to work then proceeds to undo entire row of SC to go Rogue with the back loop only😂 definitely worth the outlaw move as gives bag well defined shape. Crying laughing because somehow I just knew when you started those first sc they were not going to stay. Very lovely quick bag. I’m guessing a Raffia would be great for this pattern. Appreciate you as always 🧡

That bag is adorable. I hope your hands have recovered a bit since the filming! It was worth it! Though the holes in this bag pattern aren't very big, it got me wondering how often women back then would line bags with fabric, the way we often do now. They surely would have had more fabric scraps lying around than we typically do today, so I bet they did that back then, too.

Let me start by saying THANK YOU so much for showing the magic circle in slow motion so I could pick up on how to do it. 2nd Let me say I thought I lost my mind when that beautiful light pink polish was gone and I saw that blue polish. I thought wait am I losing my mind or was that blue polish always in this video! I take a lot of pills for my broken back so I could have just not noticed so I had to go back and look. I got the biggest chuckle out of that! Thanks, 3rd Thanks for all of the frogging you do. I use to not frog and just fudge my mistakes. I now do a lot of frogging and I can appreciate it much more than if I just fudged it! You are my favorite show and I don't miss any of them. So much I want to say, but I'm not looking to bore anyone here...first of all, your channel has made a difference in the way I think of crochet; specifically, I'm not a fan of retro crochet, because I grew up in the '70's, and I didn't care for the look of it at the time it was considered modern. Vintage crochet, on the other hand, brings the game up to a whole new level for me, and, if you'll excuse the pun, I'm hooked. There must be a 12-step program for this...anyway, second, I currently have a soutache bowl, and I'm amazed at how quickly this worked up. I went from a hexagon to a bowl in a matter of just one round, and I can't stop! There is a pair of women at work who share a birthday (July 11), and I'll be ready. I just have to dedicate next weekend to make two bags. Third, and as always, thank you for doing what you do; your passion for crochet has rekindled my interest in the craft.

I love using that nylon stuff. It can be a pain in the ass, but it's beautiful and indestructible. ETA: don't worry about being goofy. I just figured out I've had covid for more than a week. ETA2: on bags and such, I work into back loop and third loop for a sharp edge with greater stability.

Gosh, I love The Great God Google! "Gr. yds." is grains per yard, a measure of linear density "The unit is used to measure length in yards in order to estimate weight or mass in grains." so, I guess, sort of akin to wraps per inch to classify the grist (density) of yarn...? It's weight, anyway. Since 1 gr. yd is about 70 yards, 3 gr yds would be 210 yards, or about 192 meters. Who knew "grains" was a common standard of measurement in the 40's? Not me! And since "cordette" yarn is a fine 2 weight, using the size 18 nylon thread was a perfect substitution! i love the color you picked, too. I learned new math AND how to make a bag today! YAY!!! 🤣 Hugs

So probably my most favorite item I have crocheted from Corinna’s inspiration. I used cotton yarn. I increased the size of the bottom to 8 inches and after my back loop only round, I continued 4 rows of sc to have a thicker base so smaller things had less chance of falling out of the bag. I made it for a young girl going through chemotherapy. It is hard to part with it except I know she will love it and it will make her day brighter. Her fave color is purple ❤ I wish I could post a picture.

You could also sew onto the bottom on all four corners 4 half moon shaped buttons. This will help with wear n tear of the bag from the sitting down of it. Just an idea I got in my head??? I'm going to make myself one of these. I really enjoy your channel! 😊❤

Nylon line is hard to work with. It does rub your hands the wrong way as it's a little stiff, but it does get easier the bigger the project gets (in my experience). Now, I don't buy it at craft stores as it's too expensive that way. They market it as yarn. I go to the hardware store and buy mason line. It comes in more colors and it's a lot cheaper... that's if you ever want to work with it again. Lol. The finished projects are always lovely in this type of line, string, yarn. I made tablet and phone covers many years ago and they last forever. This bag you made will be around for years to come.

Yep, the nylon cord has even less give than cotton but holds shape well. I have the book this pattern is from, love just looking at the styles but may someday get around to it. Gr. yard is grains per yard apparently. An old measure of linear density. Here goes: 3 gr yard is equivalent to 0.2 grams per meter, which should be 500metres per 100gm (if my sums are right!), which puts it smack in the middle of weight 1, super fine yarn (according to the laughing hens conversion chart) I have learned something today!
