What we often see when disability insurance companies deny these claims, is that the justification for the denial is that the claimant's employer can make accommodations by allowing the claimant to sit closer to the bathroom, so that means the claimant can work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week.
Clearly, Crohn's Disease is not "cured" by allowing a person to sit closer to a bathroom, there is still associated pain, fatigue, and with that comes the inability to focus and concentrate.
Disability insurance companies do not respect Crohn's Disease as a disabling condition, and it is often humiliating for those who suffer with it, if it is also causing urgency or incontinence issues.
Disability insurance companies will also look at the records and determine that, because a claimant is on medications or may have had surgery, that they should be able to work. However, we understand that this is not always the case with Crohn's Disease.

Very helpful video. I was just fired from my job for taking "long breaks." I was too embarrassed to tell HR about my Crohn's so I kept my mouth shut. I wish I would have spoken up. Now the process of getting disability. I hope it's not a huge challenge. You'll be hearing from me if so.

I'm going through this right now! I was on disability for almost 10 years for Crohn's. Doctors won't take me as a patient when I hand them a folder with 1,000+ pages of my med history and tell them I have poor people insurance. I have been looking for 2 years. Well then I must be cured!!!! According to SSD. Ok well no income and unable to work and now homeless! Oh and I have to pay back $8,000 to SSD. So now I'm supposed to find a job? Job interviewer - " so what about your work history?" Me - "disability for the last 10 years, Crohn's ". Job interviewer - " the position has been filled thanks have a nice day". So now I'm staying in my girlfriend's Mom's basement "who of course hates me" with our 2 little girls. I'm told almost daily Her mother is going to boot me out now that I have no income. Feeling hopeless and lost.

Yo man I got the same situation like u I am battle this crohn disease for almost a year know and I left my job because of my crohn disease I keep smoking a lot and I can’t stop know and living with my parents house in the basement am on fucking house arrest right know and I don’t know what to do with my life

The “other” symptoms include frequent hospitalizations, arthritis of the ankles, hands and spine, frequent vomiting, headaches, anemia requiring infusions, extreme fatigue, severe cramping, iritis of one or both eyes, a multitude of drugs and their side effects, depression, anxiety, blood clots and even more. While I appreciate this video, please don’t concentrate on the bathroom aspect, as that is not the disabling factor.

I just got diagnosed with Crohn's disease in June 2021. They said I had it since I was 19. I'm so in pain all the time I have bad diarrhea n lost so much weight they put me on steroids but took me off n put me on a ibs medication iv been on it for a couple of weeks now n I still get bad pains in my stomach I don't know what to do. I can't work n could I get disability
