I ran for office because of you guys. I ran in a state legislative seat. I was against a 22 year Republican incumbent. I have no political experience but a lot of great ideas and policies. I won my primary in a landslide and had so many voters particularly excited about me and my campaign. After all that, I ended up losing. Yesterday/today have been some of the worst days of my life. But because of PSA, I found my calling. At the moment it doesn’t feel like it is because I lost my race, but I’m not giving up. And supporters of mine have asked me to not give up. The thing I’ve been grappling with the last 24 hours is how so many fellow Americans voted against good. My heart and soul are too invested in politics and the progressive movement to back down now. So PSA guys, you made a difference in my life. You got me to run, and you inspired me and I did something I never imagined I could do. And I in turn inspired many other people. All my supporters believe in my platform and those people still exist. We are still out there. I don’t know what the hell comes next but I know I can count on having crooked to get me through. I really hoped to give you all better news, but this heartfelt thank you will have to do. 🩵

@@melody-13 'How did so many people vote against good?' Well they touched on this a bit in the video: there were some big factors that made the difference: e.g. "the economy. I am having a harder time now than years ago" Not saying that this works as an argument for every rep voter but there are folk who _genuinely_ believe a rep presidency will 'be better for the economy'. It's not necessarily "I looked at all those other things like women's rights or saving the ecosystem and just didn't care.....because I oppose good" but more "I think this will have [X] direct benefits for me".

As a woman who consistently voted Democrat, I am absolutely furious. Not at the party but at the voters who chose to not side with women. We have stood by the sides of men and we constantly get overlooked. I didn't feel betrayed by the party, i feel betrayed by the people. The people who wanted to send a message to the DNC also sent a giant message to the women of this country. They don't care about us, they don't care about our issues. They only care when it's convenient for them. They think they can just push us aside like we don't matter. I expected this from Republicans, I expected it from conservatives. The party didn't let us down. White men, Latino men, and white women let us down. We are just fodder to them.

The US needs to realise that this serious pull to the right is not unique to the US: front national in France, Wilders in The Netherlands, Vlaams Belang in Belgium, Orban, Brexit in the UK, FPÖ in Austria, Fratelli d'Italia in Italy, etc. People are looking for simple solutions to complex problems. People are also easily charmed by a strong leader (aka bully) as they think this is the solution. We in Europe have seen this also with Berlusconi, Orban, etc. We have to get real and realise it's the 20s all over again. But it's actually already the 40s... with a war in Ukraine, a genocide in the middle east, etc. You guys have become an extreme-right country that loves a fascist. And you will have to deal with it...

European Union is not in its best term, but USA is worse than all of them, maybe together with Italy. Spain, Portugal, Germany and the scandinavian countries are holding extreme right quite well (not sure about Germany) and France is doing everything possible (after many, many years Le Pen is still not president, although yes she has been gaining ground little by little). Sorry but stop coping. US is just more of a third world country/continent than Europe.

I had watched a few shows here and there of Joe Rogan’s for several years. Was kind of a fan since I love Chappelle and knew Rogan was in one show of his. Anyway, when Rogan had Bernie Sanders on and endorsed him, I was excited. Joe never was outwardly political but the views he espoused was on the left. But after the Bernie endorsement the Dem establishment and surrogates lost their fu*king minds. They chastised Rogan and Bernie both and claimed Rogan was right wing so that’s why Bernie shouldn’t talk to him. It was such a childish, immature view that frankly astonished me about the Democrats. So while the Dems pushed Rogan away, the right started cultivating him. Then I started seeing more and more right wing guys on in the last few years. The right understood that Rogan has one of the biggest audiences on the internet and cultivated him. The left, turned up their noses to him which goes to show that the left sometimes can’t strategize worth sh*t. It’s like they can’t see the forest from the trees

Lmao you have no right to shame the American public when they've gone four years unable to afford food, gas, rent, medical care, or basic household goods. First off, know your place, you are no better than the average working class American. Many of which have stories just like yours. So the first round of blame goes on Biden for fucking our economy up, destabilizing the world stage, and doing nothing to prevent these wars. Instead, he funded them. Secondly, your party ran the most incompetent and underprepared candidate ever. Harris was a joke both to Republicans AND democrats up until 108 days ago. She quite literally was a laughing stock, she got ZERO delegates when she ran on her own. You pulled a 2016, you ran a joke of a candidate against Trump, and you paid the price. I live in Asheville, you know who helped us for the first two weeks when FEMA and the National Guard did nothing for us? Trump. He got Elon to get Starlink set up here, because of that I was able to cooperate with rescue teams to help people that were stranded, that were in flood zones, that were trapped in their homes or on mountains. So yeah. Have a little respect for your fellow Americans, they voted because they wanted change. Kamala promised the same shit.

I am an African American voter. This is incredibly upsetting because, for the first time in their lives, I was able to convince my 60-year-old sister and 68-year-old brother to vote for the first time. (And it wasn't easy.) I can tell you without a doubt that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of black Americans do not vote because they 1) don't believe that their vote matters and 2) culturally have inherited a narrative that black people don't have a voice in this country. I should know. I grew up in one of those families. What we know is that non-college-educated Americans turned out for this election (along with Hispanic and African Americans who fall under the same category) in huge numbers. How is it that a party that purports to be the party of working people has lost that coalition to an internet troll who is going to wreck the economy and destroy a lot of lives in the process? Additionally, Joe Biden lied to us about wanting to be a bridge builder and serving one term. None of us wanted him to run for a second term. And the DNC ignored the will of the party, denying themselves valuable data but also not listening to what the American people were saying. Kamala Harris deserves a tremendous amount of thanks what what she took on! The Democrats are not reaching out the most economically disadvantaged people.

Thank you for saying this--sadly I see a lot of disenfranchisement and apathy/nihilism in my friends who are white and working class as well. I think it's a common thread in those who can't see a way to the kinds of supports everyone deserves to have for education, child care, justice and healthcare. They don't believe it's possible so they don't bother voting.

The smartest thing Biden did was to step down. The dumbest thing he did was run in the first place. I heard so many people say in 2020 that they would not vote for him. Not just 1 or 2 people. It was brought up in every conversation about the election. We lost months of work to trying to convince people to vote for someone that I truly believe never stood a chance.

I voted for Kamala but I did not think she would win. There should have been a primary. White America is afraid of how fast the demographics of this nation are changing. I felt that only a white man could have beaten Trump. Trump is seen as their firewall sent by GOD to defend the whiteness of this nation. If Kamala pissed sweet lemonade and pooped gold nuggets, she still would have lost. No policies or plans mattered. Just ethnicity.

😞 Ho boy, this is just….. beyond sad. I’m only grateful that the grim reality of this country’s people didn’t slap me upside the head like 2016. Thank you for everything you guys have done. Your impact is so important. We need you now more than ever. 💜

Yeah, it is different than 2016. I'm much less shocked this time. But I have more dread. I thought Trump was a clown last time; now we know he's a villain. I'm pretty afraid.

People don't seem to see the difference between "inflation" and "the economy." Inflation is a broad thing and very complicated. But it doesn't realistically have anything to do with the amount a big corporation with no competition can charge for a dozen eggs.
@dania2012 сағат бұрын
I think we failed to effectively pin the state of the economy on Trump and his final year. “He crashed the car-why give him back the keys” should have been a clearer argument.

people have short memories and a "what have you done for me lately?" type of attitude. Asking them to look at the long term consequences of a past president is asking a lot of the average voter who is poorly informed and not particularl intelligent

What lol Biden and HArris had 4 years before the pandemic the economy was rocking it is very disingenuous to blame that on trump anyone in office during that would have had the same outcome but Biden Harris did nothing but make it worse and worse

Except they spent 4 years saying that Bidenomics had the economy booming 🤡🤡 And that was in direct contradiction to what most people were experiencing.

It is a dark and disappointing day. I am a therapist, and was in 2016 as well, the despair and fear is extremely different this time. Also, side note on the better help ad- I'm sure it's from a good place, but simply put they are horrible to both clients and therapists.

I guess at some point you’re gonna realize that the reason there were so many Democrat votes in 2020 is because they cheated.

I place this loss at Biden's feet. Not because Biden did poorly, but because he chose to force a reelection campaign and eject. He should have dropped out and given the democrats a proper Primary. 100% Dem leadership for allowing that to happen.

Those mechanisms were are work, but blaming Biden for isn’t reasonable. Plus lots went wrong. Dem’s haven’t been listening for a long time. Vilifying historical stalwarts building this country is ill-advised and a driver of this payback.

If you think that would have made a difference you are delusional. People vote against their personal interests. The hardship under Trump is going to be devastating like it was in 2020, only now thousands will die in Ukraine because of this election and the world will be much more unsafe. From Canada, it is easy to say that America never was or ever will be great!

No. I was gonna vote for Haley. The reason I couldn't vote for Biden was because I was worried he would pass away and Harris would become president. A lot of people were and still are worried about that. Think about that for a moment. The DNC knew the reason why we were concerned with Biden's age, and like the big brain dummies they are, they selected Harris after Biden stepped down. Epic face palm.
