I didn't like Manassas. I really liked the Crosby Nash albums both the self titled as well as Wind on the Water.

All our heroes turned out to be drug addicts and losers. Few could perform live and sound worth a darn. Turn up the amps and belt out a few verses and people were happy. Looking back, without music studio mixes, few would have made it past their first album. Sorry to be so truthful about the past.

Saw many bands live; you're generalizing. For the most part CSN and the variations were great live. Then again, they were not about 'turning up the amps and belting.' You might have them confused with the AC/DC, Poison, RATT, era.

Heroes? Who makes them heroes or buys into it? I don't look to a guitarist or a quarterback to be my hero. I may LOVE their sound and effort and imagination or their physical efforts on the field, but that doesn't make them my hero, my guru, or certainly a political advisor. It's like all these people who care that this star or that star is for Palestine or against Trump or for this or that. What the hell qualifies Cher to tell me how to vote? But that has nothing to do with their music. I didn't do/not do drugs based on what anyone on an album cover did. People who did do it... were setting up false heroes.

If you had someone who was writing 5 out of the 10 songs, playing all the instruments, doing the arranging and producing... that would tend to impact the dynamics, yes. No one likes the reality of that, but there it was.

Manassas is in my top 5 fav albums. I agree with what Dallas Taylor says here....Stills was at his peak. Little aside.... Joe Lala looks exactly like Barry Williams ("Greg Brady"). As a matter of fact, I thought that was who it was before his name came across the bottom. 😃
