Something interesting about argentinian sweets like alfajor, facturas and cookies and such is that compared to other countries they tend to be quite sweet, but that's also because we tend to have them with mate which is bitter. The balance of jumping from bitter to sweet and back again, once you get used to it, is a match made in heaven.

The African population used to be more than 50 percent of the Argentine population, and there used to be more black people in Argentina than in Brazil, Argentina committed mass genocide against its African population, and I personally would never set foot in Argentina. Argentina from 1868 to 1874, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, undertook a genocide' that wiped out the Afro-Argentinean population to the point that by 1875, there were so few Black people left in Argentina that the government didn't even bother registering African descendants in the national census. Tellingly, Sarmiento wrote in his diary in 1848: What is [to be] done with such blacks, hated by the white race? Slavery is a parasite that the vegetation of English colonization has left attached to the leafy tree of freedom,” - International Business Times. imagine they killed half their population. the land of Argentina was fertilized with the blood and bones of Argentina's former African enslaved population. the food that grows in Argentina, and the grass that grows, for which the cattle graze on, was fertilized by the blood and bones of, its former African enslaved population, that unique taste that you taste, when you eat food grown and grazed in Argentina, is the blood and bones of your former enslaved people. African slaves built Argentina, and then the former slave owners paid back the slaves for the great works, toil, and effort, with mass genocide, the most complete and comprehensive genocide in human history. most of the present black and African population in Argentina are recent elite African and black immigrants, who did not arrive in Argentina until after 1980 and are not descendants of Argentina's African enslaved population. Argentina has gone a long way in whitewashing the genocide of its former African enslaved population, by allowing marginal mostly elite African immigrants, who themselves are somewhat anti-African, and tend to be very invested in absolving the European Argentine population of its genocide past, one of histories most comprehensive genocides committed against Argentinas descendants of Argentinas African population descendant of the trans-Atlantic slave system

Incredible to see. 😲✌ P.S. : Sitting down in a park drinking mate is probably one of the truly most Argentinian things you could have ever done in your trip. Props to y'all for that !

When you went to Guerrin (sorry I don't know how to do the dots) you experienced probably something that I wish more people learned about Argentina. We are a country that will respond to love shown to us with the same love in kind. We're, despite our irreverent attitude, a country that very much values respect, at an international stage. If you treat us with respect, if you show us that you appreciate our people, our culture, and most importantly our food, then we will appreciate you in turn and show us our best hospitality. I always tell my international friends, it's a very good place to visit, not just Buenos Aires, but almost everywhere in this country, you'll find a friendly face willing to share a mate with you, as long as the respect is mutual.

Parque general San Martin is not to be missed . And there is an abundance of things to explore outside the city. Locro is only cooked and sold traditionally on May 25th, the day we celebrate the creation of our first government. Asado is by far the most traditional and national dish, everyone joins together with their families on weekends to enjoy a good asado, and for birthdays it's either asado or pizza and empanadas. On christmas and new year it's also Asado. I know the northerners hate Buenos Aires and all, but don't spread fake news, i'm from Cordoba and i damn sure know Locro is traditional, but not as much as Asado, especially because Locro was originated further north in Peru/Bolivia and by natives living in Jujuy very close to the border.

@DiegoALexis20797 ай бұрын
@@cariaus3758 If you grew up in Australia you missed the tradition of drinking and sharing mate, it also takes time to learn to prepare it well, and there are dozens of versions, with herbs, with milk, with juices, with yerba and toasted sugar, with sweetener, with zest of citrus etc. Over time everyone finds their favorite
@cariaus37587 ай бұрын
@DiegoALexis2079 Well, I've been surrounded by a pretty large Argentinean and Uruguayan community all my life, so the sharing mate was always happening around me. I've tried lot's of ways of drinking it and I don't like any. I know a few people in Argentina who don't drink mate. So I'm not the only one 🤭
@DiegoALexis20797 ай бұрын
@@cariaus3758 I understand what you're saying, I lived in New York for a decade with the Argentine-Uruguayan community as well, but it's not the same. In ten years I drank mate no more than five times in a city that doesn't give you time to breathe... However, when I returned to Argentina I started drinking mate regularly. But perhaps you may have already built the negative idea about it in your mind because you may want to like it like someone who likes ice cream, perhaps, because it is not the same, one does not drink mate exclusively because one likes it but rather because of tradition, because it is "an acquired taste". And I think that's the key, understanding what an acquired taste means. There's a very common phrase here that says "Here we start to be grown up the day we have the need to drink some mates for the first time, alone." I'm not trying to tell you how things are, just providing my experience to help you understand things from another point of view.

Eventually if you like it you can add less sugar or start drinking it right from the first pour. I am a born and raised Argentinian and I started drinking it sweet and eventually i stopped, still the first sip you usually spit it out because is too strong

In Belgiium, Bruges you have to goto "El Churrasco" Argentine restaurant. Reservation is a must because it's a little place.

Planning to visit Beriloche for the first time. What should I see?
@2404PepeАй бұрын
@@ApriliaRacer14 Depends on climate but you could take basic tours like, 7 Lagos (7 lakes), Cerro Tronador, Puerto Blest, Isla Victoria y Bosque Arrayanes, La Cueva (the Cave, at night in Cerro Catedral) and there are many more. I repeat, it dependes on climate. If you have budget, rent a car and go to Esquel trough El Bolsón and came back trough Pargue los Alerces, it will be the best trip of your life!!! enjoy!!!

@@2404Pepe I’m guessing winter time there is hard to travel on roads (snow)?
@2404PepeАй бұрын
@@ApriliaRacer14 yes, just like Colorado or Minnesota. But theres not much snow in the main city road (Bustillo av.) If you look up Bariloche's city map it is a long road along the Nahuel Huapi lake, many miles long. In the middle of the winter, if you want to travel safe, buy the package to a travel agency. Hope it helps, take care

Muy buen laburo chiquis, me cagué de risa, but the best of all was Cby's face tasting meat again, the rush in your face and your gestures were more than eloquent. 😋🤭 I hope you both are having an excellent time here, your vids have quality and excellence. See ya kids. 🤗
