Peruvian food is delicious. There are several dishes with different flavors. Peruvian food not only has Chinese influence, it also has French, Italian, Spanish, African, and Japanese. Talking about the chicha morada, you boil the purple corn with quince, pineapple, cinnamon, clove, and after it is done boiling and then cool, you add the sugar and lime.

I loved Peruvian Food, it is delicious!!! Visited Peru last year and we tried everything from Ceviches, Ají de Gallina, Cuy, Potatoes... Lovely country!!! Don´t leave Peru without going to Cuzco, it is a gorgeous city with many attractions (Vinicunca the 7 color mountain is highly recommended, Cuzco itself is gorgeous and of Course all the Inca Sites)

I agree with you about the food! Some of the best dishes that I have had anywhere!

If you are going to Vinicunca, then you may want to go by ATV. The parking area for the ATV's is very close to the view point and you don't have to do the long, long hike for regular tourists. An alternative is Montaña de Colores Palccoyo. It's also a "Rainbow Mountain," but it get about 10% of the visitors vs Vinicunca.

Great video! Have you tried the sandwiches from La Lucha? If you're staying in Miraflores, I recommend Rincon Chami. It's an unassuming restaurant specializing in authentic Peruvian food, popular among locals and featured in travel guides as well. The friendly waiters, who have been there for over 35 years, will warmly welcome you. Additionally, you should try the Pastel de Choclo (Corn Casserole) at El Bodegón in Miraflores.

Hello from Lima. When we ask for a ceviche , we have the option to say "bajo en ají" what means "just a little bit of chili" . I am peruvian and do not like aji in excess too, because it overwhelms others flavours, but some people do love it because it produces an special feeling in the body.

There were a couple of occasions, when I ordered ceviche, that they would ask if I wanted it spicy. I was always very appreciative of that!

Great video, brought back fond memories of all the wonderful food I had in Lima last year…I splurged and went to Virgilio Martinez Véliz’s Central in Barranco (which was surreal). I’m also a fan of food tours…did an evening one in Mira Flores and Barranco…which was great. I think I’ve only had one food tour that was just so-so. Generally, they are super helpful in introducing me to a place’s food and to restaurants that I probably wouldn’t have found on my own (and I’m a solo traveler in my 50s). Typically, I’ve found that the guide will make other suggestions beyond the tour, and I usually give a couple a try.

I think the term "Peruvian Cousine" is an underestimation of the diversity you can find in Peru. Yes, Criole cousine is a big mix of influences, but then you have other groups of dishes from more specific mixes like Chifa or Nikkei, and even within Criole cousine there are differences in techniques and ingredientes between coast, andean and amazonic dishes, each one heavily influenced by their distinct culture and past.
@oldaloneandfarfromhome5 ай бұрын
I agree with you, but in a video, it's necessary to keep it rather simple and not go into a whole lot of detail. Otherwise, you risk losing a big portion of the audience. It's a balancing act. Thank you for the great comment!

Hi I hope you feel more at home by now….my preferred food joint in Embarcadero 41 in Surco, wash down a ceviche with a pisco sour is my Sunday ritual. Surco is ok, it’s the district with 1,000 parks, very walkable ….just follow the parks in your map towards Loma Amarilla ( yellow hill ) park where the municipality is located, this way you will know the east part of the city closer to the dusty hills.

Great video!!! I haven’t been to Peru in years… now, I wanna go back soon. Just a couple of observations: your first dish wasn’t a chaufa, it was “arroz con mariscos” and it comes from the Spanish heritage. Very close to a Spanish paella. Second: the picarones aren’t served with honey but with a sugar cane syrup, called “chancaca”.
