I'm amazed at your woodworking skill set. Over the years I've seen you take some rough radio cabinets and make them into beautiful furniture. If he were here today, Powell Crosley would be proud of your efforts! I've been a big fan of your channel for many years Don, and can't wait too see this one finished!

Have you thought of using violin planes? After watching a luthier on youtube use them, I made one with the blade being approx 13 mm wide. I needed it to remove some timber inside an old mantle radio cabinet which was difficult to access until I made the plane. Anyways afterwards I also bought another one with a convex base, the blade being curved and 8mm wide. Very handy tools.

Jason - thanks for the info on the violin plane, I’ll definitely check them out. After gluing the veneer down in multiple locations and applying an epoxy filler followed by some sanding with 100 grit SP wedged between a thin piece of wood, I was able to somewhat reshape the top pieces. I really appreciate the info and for taking time to reach out with the helpful information. All the best. Don

@@RestoreOldRadios Your welcome Don. I enjoy watching your restoration videos and seeing the beautiful radios from your part of the world. Timber radios are getting harder to come by in Australia and prices are rapidly rising. Thanks for sharing your resto's with us.

The close-ups show the repairs very nicely. however could you zoom out a little between shots? Its hard to determine where on the radio we are at some times. Top or bottom an such. When you talked about using the plastic to put glue between the loose veneer, I didn't know what side I was looking at. I guess bottom.

Hi Bart - thanks for your feedback on the video. I’ll keep that in mind and try to denote such… The plastic strips with glue were placed under the top veneer pieces that were loose. Thanks again for taking time to watch and reaching out. Best, Don

@@RestoreOldRadios if your camera has an HDMI out you can use a monitor above the bench to see how the shot looks in real time. Could be useful.
