A great tutorial, thank you! I look forward to try it out. What a good suggestion to use the Ikea table cloth! And what makes it extra suitable is that "vardagen" actually means everyday, or weekday in Swedish. Very suitable for an apron I'd say!

Looks to me like the armhole cuts are the perfect shape for pockets. i am pretty sure that os how it was done, in old Japan. i was given a very thin bookelt, really more of a pamphlet, years ago, as. Christmas gift, called Cut My COAT. it became one of my favourite publications... Was pattens for folwear, and one of ghe main things was, zero waste. so this pattern just looks perfect, with those shapes. i had an image saved in a pinterest folder, and have been eanting to make it for a few years. Some time has gone by since you aired this wonderful video on how to make this very useful apron! I wanted to down load the pattern but I am unable to. I was reading some of the most recent comments ( 2yrs old!) and followed the link for the pattern. It led me to your store where I have to purchase it. Right now the amount is not all that great but for me it means food for the dogs or for myself. That is why I am curious as to if the pattern may have been just a temporary special. Not a problem, I’ll just adjust and get creative as you have done! Great idea for the table cloth! I have a few I inherited that might just work out right! It doesn’t matter if I am in my quilt studio or the kitchen, when I put an apron on I feel like I have my uniform on and it’s time to work!

Good evening, I made my apron and being that this is my first garment (other than a mask) I am very proud of myself. I will first start by mentioning that I am a plus size woman with plenty of rolls for baking, bottom for bouncing and hips for couching my bones. My cutout and put together will have to be tweaked to make it larger in the neck and if I want my bottom to hide the back straps as well. I am pleased all the same. I also want to make mine longer. Thank you. When I put my pockets on I will take a picture and send it to you.

I found linen-look fabric (85% viscose, 15% linen) on sale for $6.49/yd in twelve solid colors (52" wide) and 100% linen at $10.99/yd (width not shown) today at Joann in case this is helpful.

If I am understanding your question correctly: I am not using the selvage since I fold the fabric in half and use that fold to create 2 identical halves. I have some more photos on my blog: ourgabledhome.com/cross-over-linen-apron-sewing-tutorial/ Hope this helps 😊 ~ Anja

@@OurGabledHome I'm new to sewing. I was wondering as far as how to cut the fabric, should the stretchy side be the width (from hip to hop), rather than the length (from chest to thigh)?
@OurGabledHome
@OurGabledHome 3 жыл бұрын
@@proudasiangirl576 the fabric that I am using is not more stretchy to one side than the other. If your fabric is stretchy, I would probably have it stretch from side to side ~ Anja

@@kristingetz2386 hoping that I understand your question right: the apron is more or less square. Depending on your size, it is about 36" wide. If in doubt, I recommend making a "trial apron" from some leftover fabric or cheap muslin and then adjust from there. Hope this helps!

Any suggestions on how to print it? I see the 36" from shoulder hem to bottom hem(I think), and each shoulder strap is 4" wide, but how deep is the neckline and the arm openings? Do you cut this on the fold? If so, how wide is it from centre seam to outer most hem?
@OurGabledHome
@OurGabledHome 4 жыл бұрын
You don't need to print it unless you want to blow it up. The arm scoop can be about ½ the total length (18") and the neck scoop it totally up to you. The total width is about 36", too. You can also make a "trial apron" from cheap muslin or any leftover fabric to see if you like it. Hope this helps!

Yes, you can make the straps 4" wide - or adjust them to your liking. The neck scoop is flexible, too. Some people like it higher and others lower. If in doubt, you can cope the scoop of your favorite t-shirt.
