Finally! Someone has clearly described how to correctly use the Blue Planet antibiotics! I believe this information can be applied to most new fish arrivals... some fish just decline after 3 to 4 days for no apparent reason - cycled tank, perfect water tests and temp, no physical signs of injury or disease etc etc It's literally just dealing with new bacteria their immune system hasn't encountered before. Thank you for this very informative video!❤

I cured three fish from this, I used paraguard Epson salt and big airstone with daily water changes in ten gallon, but took two weeks to cure
@OZDiscus Жыл бұрын
Paragone/Paraguard has a wonderful ingredient in it called Wormwood leaf. This is also a great medication to use, however, we cant get this in Australia. I am glad it worked for you but yes, daily WC is a must. Well done.

Thanks for valuable video, Kindly I have queries: 1-is this disease come from discus or can come from other species like tetra, barbs.... 2- I watched your video under title ' introducing new fish to tank' , can I use your technique to add melafix in bucket and add discus for 20 minutes and then move it to main tank to avoid this disease? of course with complete adding melafix for 7 days and changes water next day. thanks in advance
@OZDiscus3 ай бұрын
1) disease exist in discus and angels 2) melafix technique is a good option but like the video says, always have tri sulfa and aquaricycline on hand. Sometimes melafix simply isnt strong enough.

I got only one discus. It's almost a week.. he did good on first 2 days but recently notices it's scratching the one side and pectoral fin..☹️☹️ I got some angels too in the tank..they are good but don't know what's going on..should I treat all 4 angels and the discuss or takeout only the discus fish and treat? Pls let me know

Where can I buy that tetracycline stateside
@OZDiscus7 ай бұрын
Not sure if you have the brand Blue Planet where you are. But we get it in a medicine they make called Aquaricycline where the active ingredient is tetracycline. Thanks

@@OZDiscus I do have metroplex on hand with melafix. I bought two from a breeder and after quarantine they actually got sick fish in my tank. Now I have to treat the whole tank. Would pp dosing work in this situation
@OZDiscus7 ай бұрын
@@guilttv2031metroplex is used to treat flagillates, hole in the head and hexamita. It is not used to treat for cross bacterial. If other discus are sick from hexamita, its caused by other fish injesting the clear lumpy poo, and maybe a coincidence that the period is same as when you started medicating. If you are dealing with cc, then pls be aware to use Aquaricycline. Hope this helps and good wishes.

Great video, thank you so much. There is so much misinformation about this disease. Most of my group are currently showing symptoms unfortunately. I have Blue Plant Tri Sulfa but am hesitant to use it, will it kill off any good bacteria in my sump?
@OZDiscus7 ай бұрын
Sadly it will. If you catch this early, tri sulfa will work but if its beyond 3 days, then you’re going to need Aquaricycline. Best wishes. However, it will kill your BB. Saving your discus however is more important than growing BB. Solve the bacterial contamination, then look to grow your BB again. Good luck.

@OZDiscus thanks for the reply. I may have left it too late for tri sulfa so have just ordered some Aquaricycline. I actually removed some of my bio balls from the sump so it doesn't wipe out everything before I added the TS. The worst of the bunch have reduced the fin clamping and have coloured up a little from very dark but are still obviously struggling. Thanks again for the tips.
@OZDiscus7 ай бұрын
@@maddieeiddamif you’re waiting you can use tri sulfa. It will at least hold the sickness from getting worst.
@maddieeiddam7 ай бұрын
@OZDiscus I've done two treatments of tri-sulfa with only mild improvements. I have aquaricycline, ive read that it will make the water brown and frothy?
@kelvinchang76557 ай бұрын
@@maddieeiddam its going to take persistence. Main thing is fish dont die and they will come back. However, if Tri sulfa hasnt worked after 2-3 days, then you will switch to Aquaricycline and yes, it will make tank brown and frothy. But it will get the job done.

Hello everyone! Thank you very much for informations! This video literally rescued my discuses - after 6 mths I bought another 4 discuses from different breeder and after 3 days all my original discuses turned to black, make cobweb and hard breathing. I did everything via OZ checklist and currently they look better even after 1hr in caranteen tank (I had to use doxygal - but its similar spectrum of antibiotikum). But please, I wanna ask .. after treatment in caranteen tank I am worried about put them back to main design tank. Could someone explain to me please how it is possible that they will fine in my design tank? Coz my imagination is that in my design tanks are still bacteries that attacked before my original discuses. Please confirm that it will fine. Thank you very much for everyone!

After initial treatment in Quarantine, when you remix the discus. Just ensure to introduce with some tri sulfa or melafix in main tank. However, do this only after all fish recovered. Do not mix sick fish with fish already recovered. Thanks

@OZDiscus So, after treatment in caranteen tank I can put discuses back to the main tank without worries that infection will occur again? Iam treating all discuses but in my main tank I have some tetras. Thank you! :)
