Nice to see some of the older guys getting some love! Great quality of work as usual. A&E seem to have some tremendous tradesmen working for them, and they aren't afraid to talk in front of a camera!

I’m a painter in the Netherlands and we do this a lot. We pull the paper through a machine that apply paste to the paper. It’s way faster and you get a nice even coat. But the guys that applying it are two amazing craftsman when almost don’t see the seems 👐
@chrisfoster50984 жыл бұрын
Yes michiel, I know the Machine you’re talking about I think for this small job it’s not worth it but for hanging 40 double rows it might be worth investing in in one. Thanks for the kind words take care Chris

Great video guys. I am very good at wallpaper hanging (Self Taught), these pro tips were great for me to watch. Thank you. My standards are a lot better than a lot of the tradesmen i have had working in my houses. (May have just been unlucky with them). Keep up the good work. More of these instructional videos please. Hi. Do you leave a small gap between the edges of the sheets of paper. Ive put it up before with little or no gap and when painted the edges seemed to expand and became very noticeable ?
@chrisfoster50984 жыл бұрын
Hi RR , No we butt joint all lining paper, if you soak the lining paper for the correct time and size the walls correctly you shouldn’t have a problem. Hope that helps cheers Chris

i think you should have explained what 'cross lining' is. I had no idea what it was until your video, but I googled it. Never realised that it's usually used like an 'underlay' for wallpaper.

If just painting over is there any benefit to hanging horizontal vs vertical?
@chrisfoster50984 жыл бұрын
Good question I would say yes because if you paint over it after hanging then in a few years you decide to paper the room you will not have to strip it hope that helps Chris
@Napoleon-Blownapart4 жыл бұрын
@@chrisfoster5098 Definitely, cheers!
@Lloyd1885 Жыл бұрын
Easier and quicker most times. A little less waste too.
@jimbobalob24916 ай бұрын
Best to hang vertical when painting over, if you hang horizontal, the seams start to open up because of gravity.

Does the paper not tear when trimming it to length into the corners? I commonly have this issue as the paper is wet with paste so doesnt take the stanley well
@chrisfoster50984 жыл бұрын
Hi Mohamed only in the corners at the top and the bottom you may have an issue if that’s the case go near the corner and then finish off with the scissors thanks Chris
@mohammedsaadrafiq80724 жыл бұрын
@@chrisfoster5098 Thanks. It's happened in the middle too. Any idea why that might be?
@chrisfoster50984 жыл бұрын
Mohammed Saad Rafiq You need to make sure the paper is tight in the internal ,keep the caulking board tight in the corner too,make sure the blade is really sharp press down hard and bingo .hope that helps cheers Chris.

Hey. Why didn’t you just crossline all the way across that wall rather than having to add the two extra pieces?

Great tips you made that look easy ~ which it ain’t lol
@BuildWithAE4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! 👍
@jimbobalob24916 ай бұрын
You shouldn't cross line if you're going to paint it because the seams will eventually open because of gravity. Cross line when papering over and vertical when painting over.
@TheSmithyt4 жыл бұрын
Why didn’t you line into the corner ??
@BuildWithAE4 жыл бұрын
Hi bud, it was a very long wall which our scaffold wasn't long enough for. There was a door at either end of the room... so we went to the two frames on the end and then did the infills as you see in the video. Take care 👍
