Cross stitch? Yes, please. It is meditation for me. Recently, I finished a big project that won 1st place and Best of Show in the local fair. That inspired me to take on larger pieces. Your stash is great. I never get enough. sigh.

(the finishing and then the winning). How long did it take you to complete your project and what was it of? Is it online so I can see it?

Yay!!! It’s a start ❤ The lavender in lace angels are so lovely. A woman who used to do my design models back in the day stitched ALL the angels - they were glorious worked up. Keep going!! Btw I had some of those bookmarks - practical and fun.

It is a different kind of pile of possibilities! I see you were really into counted cross stitch.. what a great collection you have there! I have dabbled in counted cross stitch and other types of embroidery, but it has been many decades (water under the bridge) since then. You do really lovely work with that, and your crochet. I don't know if I've seen any of your quilts.

LOL you're right, it is another pile of possibilites. I hadn't thought of that. I have experience with embroidery and I did a little ribbon embroidery. It's gorgeous, but it was way too expensive. If I ever make a Victorian crazy quilt, I'll definitely include ribbon embroidery....hmmm, thinking of the washing issue. Maybe just embroidery. LOL I wasn't a big fan of crewelwork though. I had shown quilt tops in past videos, but I don't know if I still have them up.

Oh my goodness! I was trying to think when I picked up cross stitch last and I think it was 1996 or '97. It was pretty and I liked it but started working in an office with a bunch of ladies who knit and so I did that. My 12 yr old does a bit of sewing and stitching now. I'll live through her.

Wow! That is a long time indeed! I'd love to learn to knit. Did you already know how when you knitted with our co-workers? I've tried teaching myself, but it's extremely awkward. I think my knitting style is actually Russian and not the popular English style. The yarn has to be in my left hand, not my right. Did your 12 y/o learn to sew from a class or you? I'd like to learn to sew my own clothes. The clothes today are so cheaply made.

@@BookZealots while I did have some knitting skills from home-ec in 5th, 8th, and 9th grades, it was really, really basic and I taught myself in my early 20's. I've been told I have poor form, but I get the job done and the sweaters, hats and mitts were gift worthy. Since I moved to NC, I've only made dish cloths. My daughter learned machine sewing and needlework for badges in American Heritage Girls. She since has made clothes for herself and her sister and a few gifts. She's super creative; she gets that from her father.

@@Fernie4243 First, I love that your dear daughter is so talented. Second, I am shocked you were taught knitting skills in a home ec class in three grade levels. Home ec was no longer offered in my school district in Cali. I barely got music lessons in fourth grade. by 2002, PE was being eliminated. Anyway, there's form to knitting?! I laugh to think what these women would have to say about Prometheus crocheting and holding the tension with his toes? 🤣 He made scarves for soldiers one year for homeschool. Of course we washed everything before we mailed them. But form? I'm more worried about tension and then reading patterns. Is your husband an artist? My step father's family is extremely talented. A little jealous that they're all so talented. Is there a DNA gene for that or something?

@@BookZealots my schools were slow to eliminate those things. Sports were big and our school always hosted regional track and field events. They kept the home-ec going because the kitchens were used to make all the food. We didn't have a cafeteria. I haven't talked to anyone there in years and don't know if it's still the same. The home-ec teacher that was there forever retired a couple years after I graduated. My husband is a composer/ musician. His degree is in composition but he can play many instruments. If you search KZbin for Joel Everett you can find him. He's not the martial arts guy. There is a few bits he composed, most is arrangements. The song Together he wrote for me. It's my favorite.

@@Fernie4243 I like that the school kept the home ec. I think it's really important. here in our tiny town there's a lot of sports for middle school. my middle school didn't have anything like that. one would assume in Cali there would be lots of extra curricular option, but nope. I will definitely look up your husband's music. My uncle Ken is a musician and he writes music too. He's not a good singer though. IMO. LOL And he draws. I think all 6 of the "kids" had talent in art and most of them worked on it. My uncle hates it when people call his art/music as a talent, because he has worked on his crafts for decades. But I will argue, it started out as talent, because I can put effort into those crafts and definitely NOT get the same results. 🤣
