I have used the Blackhawk Crossdraw Vest for several years. It has held up exceptionally well and I still like it. As stated, Grab & Go. Grab my vest and grab my carbine and, if necessary, my backpack. Very quick. My Blackhawk vest is like the one shown with the exception of double AR mag pouches. I equip mine with a web belt for a little more versatility. My crossdraw vest system includes... 6 - 30 rd AR mags (mag pouches). 4 - Beretta mags (mag pouches). Left shoulder pouch - compass, BIC lighter and flint fire starter. Utility pouch - compact binoculars and Surefire G2 flashlight. inside pockets contain local topographical maps and pen & note paper (lightweight and flat - bulky items are uncomfortable). *NOTE - laminate your maps and store note paper in a ziploc baggie to prevent getting wet from perspiration. On the attached web belt is... SOG Seal Pup fixed blade. the sheath it comes with is mounted high, just behind the holster under my left arm. The sheath also has an additional front pouch (probably for a sharpening stone) that holds my Leatherman ST 300. Ontario M9 bayonet w/leg strap on right thigh. Blackhawk Omega Elite Dump Pouch strapped on left thigh. I don't have anything on the back. I prefer this for comfort in a vehicle (crossdraw in a vehicle is another benefit). If needed, I have a Blackhawk S.T.R.I.K.E. Hydration System Carrier w/100-oz hydration reservoir that mounts to the PALS in back (an additional 7 lbs). The weight is distributed well and not uncomfortable. The only detractor would be the lace-up size adjustment, but I have never had to change it so it has been inconsequential to me. Yes, I use a lot of Blackhawk products. They are very durable and have served me well. This is my crossdraw vest system, there are many like it, but this one is mine. You should develop your own system for your individual needs, but I hope to have offered some useful ideas. Good luck.

The cross-draw is by far my all time favorite loadout system! I have a Condor and the only difference is it has the "sniper shoulder" on both sides, and the holster is detachable.

Huh. Good idea! That would allow the back to be 'empty' providing the 'flat back' philosophy that Nutnfancy spoke of, to a degree. Thanks a bunch!

hey try attaching your knife near the bottom sideways its easy way to grab it and its fast works great for me

Great series. I particularly like the idea of carrying a short wakizashi on that back webbing. I haven't seen one that wasn't some cheap Chinese made piece-o-crap at a gun show... So I haven't seen one I trust my life with, but that would have a lot of advantages over a normal, full size survival/bowie knife. I'm sure it would have it's own drawbacks too, though.

i persanolly agree with you and on my vest i have a belt that i put a but pouch on and i got like 3 bottles of water to fill the bladder if there is a grab and go scenario it wont be cold but it will be clean

@Inchristalone_77716 жыл бұрын
Hey Nutnfancey, you talk about s grab and go system, so what do you do about your bladder? Do you fill it up load and leave, or do you grab your vest then fill with water and load. The bladder to me, seams to throw the whole system outa whack. Perhaps the bladder isn't apart of the grab/go scenario?
@norwegianwiking15 жыл бұрын
My TK10 (you sold me on that one BTW) rides in a Surefire belt holder. Fits perfectly, only isue is it only has a belt loop and wont fasten to a vest like this. Tell us if you find a light holder that can go on a vest (or just the shoulder strap of a backpack etc).
@Inchristalone_77716 жыл бұрын
I wanted to clarify my question. Do you fill the bladder, load it into the bag and let it sit stagnate in the bag until you need it. OR do you leave the bladder empty until you need to grab your vest. Sorry, my question seemed muttled.

Vary good review, like the vest but i prefer the holster to be on the thigh + there would be more room for more magizines ect on the vest.

Uhhh, I take that back. Just checked.... 79.99 each. get 'em now! Great vests. I actually like the double mag pouches because they give you the OPTION... to run 7.62 AK or M-14 mags as well.

I don't agree with the knife on the back. Someone could get up behing you and take your knife. If they were to approach frontside and wrestle with you they could easily grab the knife off your back, stick it in your throat and you wouldn't be able to block it. I put my knife handle up on the lower left of my chest. It's easy to get as well as easy to block if someone goes for it. I just think if I were trying to attack myself what would I do.

Can anyone tell me anything about a Galati vest? How does it compare to the Blackhawk? They look the same to me (on the internet) and the Galati is a fraction of the cost. Thanks for any help.

I like the knife on the back idea....but that PALS webbing sucks. Nothing ever fits it properly [molle not compatible] unless it's a "one-off" mounting type system like a knife or ALICE clip.

@PatriotAr1515 жыл бұрын
Don't be jerk. You simply have a differing philosophy. I don't agree 100% w/ his and tend to lean towards firepower. That said, NutnFancy is a great reviewer. I, for one, am very grateful for his reviews. That said, I'm not sure I would go with a Crossdraw. I would likely go with a 6 dbl pouch vest, and put the holster on an attached webbelt. On the other side would go a dump pouch on the belt. If the belt attaches to the vest, then I'd just keep them together. Still would be a grab'n'go setup

@adamslurch71 I have a really hard time believeing that your are carrying 145 and even more 225. Have you weighed that? You must not be hiking more then a 100 yards. Just so you know a saw gunner in my unit carrys a war load of 150lbs thats with gun and 5 drums a few frags water side arm kabar. I just think your throughing numbers out your ass with 225. Id really like to see a video you with with you weighing it and then hiking at least 5 miles.
