Yes! I saw that as well in the replay, this is the one thing I hate about the games and crossfit in general, some of these judges will ruin a heat or competition for an athlete by making a bad call, and what is even worse is that as an athlete there is no point in complaining because you will just lose more time on the clock. I was so pissed off with that. That was her heat and that judge stole that from her.

LMFAO the difference between men and women is so clear on this event, the ladies take their time doing things meticulously like going down the net, and stepping on all the sand pegs at a steady pace, the men turn the brains off and jump from the top of the net, Vellner face planted over one of the obstacles, Ohlsen literally only stepped on two of the pegs and leaped the rest....the guys are out here risking game ending injury all in the name of competition on a single event

@nicki_simone94
@nicki_simone94 6 жыл бұрын
I totally get what you're saying but from how the commentators explained it is that whoever finishes first in their semifinal heat gets to go on to the finals, so even though Fraser was faster than Vellner in time, Fraser came in second to Cody Anderson in their heat.
@Zuwali
@Zuwali 4 жыл бұрын
Hope this explanation helps: 4 SemiFinals heats. Vellner won his SemiFinals heat(heat4) and Matt Fraser didn’t win his SemiFinals heat(heat2), so Vellner got in the Finals even though Matt’s 2nd place time was faster than Vellner 1st place time. If they were in the same heat Mat Fraser would have been in the Finals. As for the extra 5th spot in the Finals: Noah Olson got the extra Finals spot because his 2nd place SemiFinals time was faster than any other 2nd place SemiFinalist at 1:09.

This course tests balance as much as fitness. I don't see why they have to do start-overs, since falling off already costs them an extra second to get back on as it is. Starting over a segment means you come in last.

Going by some of the comments I think once an event starts getting way too technical it loses it magic & i think Crossfit is headed that way - stop trying to make things sooo perfect & when you have so many judges one will have crazy interpretations of the rules - people feel robbed

Someone needs to demonstrate correct ‘caving ladder’ technique. Using the heel of the foot on the backside of the ladder Besides being much safer - it’s also much faster. No single competitor did it properly men or woman. Besides that ... phenomenal athletes!!

I will keep asking this question - in 2015 was Sara robbed of the title? Going into the last day she was leading. The first event was the peg board event and in which almost all the competitors seemed to fail. While Katrin simply gave up and moved on to the next 3 events - cycling, rowing and carrying a weight some distance - none of which seem particularly hard, Sara kept attacking the peg board and failing! So basically both of them received zero scores for the peg board along with almost all the other competitors - so by not doing the peg board it helped Katrin because she did not expend any energy! That was the key because she flied thru the next 3 events whereas Sara was totally spent! And here on this video i see competitors not being able to do an event and they are being sent back! What gives here? Why was Katrin allowed to simply skip an event? Can a competitor simply skip an event? In this event what if some one decides to skip the rope skip and land on those long logs that seemed to cause the competitors a lot of problems? Hey not doing an event means you are ahead of everyone else, right? Wow, he did it under a minute! is that fair? Not fair, right? To put it in comparison in the winter olympics skiers have to stop and shoot a gun 5 times aiming at a target. Let's suppose a skier who is behind skips the shooting event and the leader misses all 5! Both get the same scores? But the skier who is behind is now ahead because she did not stop to shoot and so gained the time? No sir, you can't do that in the Olympics - the time stops running once you stop to shoot - you can't just skip an event and gain an advantage
@ThePrinceska73
@ThePrinceska73 6 жыл бұрын
ramaraksha01 in biathlon, the time doesn't stop running during shooting. But other than that, I completely agree with your point. 👍🏻
@ramaraksha01
@ramaraksha01 6 жыл бұрын
It should right? You get my point? if the time one finishes counts is all that counts, then why waste time to shoot - let's say they make the shooting so difficult that the best shooters can get 1 or 2 out of 5, then any intelligent skier would skip the event figuring most of her closest competitors would miss all 5, thus scoring zero points the same as hers, but she would gain on time, in this case Sara lost energy not time The reason you can't do that in the Olympics is that shooting is mandatory, you can't skip the event Here they allowed Katrin to simply skip the event, save her energy for the next 3 events which didn't seem that difficult to me - if Sara had done the same, she, i think would have kept up with Katrin at least maybe lose some points but not enough for Katrin to make up I can't believe Sara did not file a protest or no one pointed this out - seems wrong to me - at least declare them joint winners
@saturated3821
@saturated3821 5 жыл бұрын
@@ramaraksha01 Your point about the crossfit event is very valid and if true (I don't follow much), was definitely an egregious oversight from any oversight body of the event. But don't compare to biathlon, you don't seem to know how the sport works. The skiers have to stop to try and shoot the targets yes, but if they want to they can just shoot five times blindly. But every target missed means a penalty round (an added distance to ski, usually something that will take about half a minute to do) in the skiing portion. Sometimes there is also a fixed time penalty for targets missed that is just added to your skiing time, that is usually even longer than that half a minute. If someone was so insanely much better than the other biathletes in skiing that they thought they could take those few minutes extra time against a weaker skier, but a great shot, well it would be in their right to fudge the shooting and move on as fast as possible.
@ramaraksha01
@ramaraksha01 5 жыл бұрын
@@saturated3821 But can a skier simply skip the shooting event or as you said blindly shoot and miss all? What would be the cost of not doing this event? The penalty is too huge not to shoot but in this case Katrin actually GAINED by not doing an event. She gambled that Sara and any of the other competitors closest to her would not be able to do the event and she was right She got zero score just as Sara did but conserved her energy I contacted Crossfit games - opened a complaint on their website - they say they take these complaints very seriously - obviously Katrin did not cheat but she did not play fair either & the organizers should not have let her gain an advantage like that - but have heard nothing back from them I guess they are going to close their eyes to this issue Another interesting issue is that very few of the athletes were able to do the event - something they had not done before - but these are world-class athletes - how is it that they could not do them? It shows that maybe our bodies adapt to what we train them for - SPECIFICALLY - so if we train for a cycling event - our bodies get good at cycling but change the event to running and the champion cyclers might fall apart

I love Sara, but has had issues with the hand stand walk and push-ups. Katrin excels at them. On the peg board wall Katrin attempted it twice. 1st attempt didn’t make it far. Katrin appeared to have completed one ascent and descent at 3:10-15 of that event. They showed her make it to the top and most of the way down, but the camera pans away to another competitor, so I’m not sure if she completed it. Katrin spent enough energy to make to the top and back down. She realized with have the time gone she had no chance of doing 2 more times and stopped. Sara mostly stood around seemingly stressing about her struggles more than she did expending energy on the wall. Her struggles with handstand push-ups were the big issue, and it’s something she has mentioned in an interview as something she needed to improve. The 2015 pttm1 and pttm2 were separately scored events. Katrin didn’t skip the pegboard to do the rowing, cycling, and kettle bells. Katrin won the pttm2 which was handstand push-ups followed by rowing cycling and kettle bells. The no rep on obstacles in the obstacle course are completely different. There were rules on how to complete each obstacle and you can’t go to next obstacle until each is completed correctly. It was a race to complete the obstacle course and that’s pretty normal rules for obstacle course races.
