The thing I like about Crossfit is that cardio burn and muscle burn you get at the same time. I've been training for my first Spartan Beast and documenting it on my channel. It has been a TOUGH transition going from bodybuilding to Spartan race training, but I love it! Crossfit killed me the other day haha

Its amazing!!! what they accomplish in 7 minutes most weightlifters spend an hour in the gym trying to get done. That to me is the what makes their method so successful. That and they do 100s of deadlifts!

Not saying they're totally bad or don't work, I just don't understand why anyone would even want to bother with a handstand push-up on a wall, without the hands being elevated. Very short range of motion for the shoulder. I would assume that real handstands develop some killer shoulder/trunk strength and stability, and are worth doing. But isn't the wall kind of eliminating the need to balance? I guess I'm just wondering why they'd choose to do a handstand push up on a wall instead of just pressing a weight overhead? I dig the circuit style of training, they just pick some really odd fucking moves in my opinion.
@JustSomeGuy694209 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Hewitt I guess it is a sport and HSPUs are part of it, I would never bother though. I've done high rep deadlifts combined with overhead pressing, and it's killer. So yeah...nevermind.
@ironsurvival70119 жыл бұрын
I do cross fit and I love it but I have refused to do handstand push-ups lol they are hard as fuck for me I have very long limbs and to do all the progression training to get up to a full HSPU in my opinion is a waste of time lol it's a movement that has one application and that is in a cross fit gym. So when those Coke up I do something else like you said overhead press. I just think it's a really stupid movement with no real world application
@JustSomeGuy694209 жыл бұрын
+IRON1 That's how I feel about things like that too. Why not fill my workouts with either very basic, general moves or the other extreme, something very functional to something I actually do. I do a lot of martial arts, so I've combined some wrestling and striking movements with some basic things like deadlifts, rows, pushups, etc... It's the bombbbb.
@sumsar019 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Hewitt HSPU are pretty tough in them self. You don't really need to add height on them to add intensity here. But my guess is that when they train for strength they do them elevated. Sometimes it's done without a wall and for the application thing. I think its a great exercise, but its probably more in the cool category. My guess is that its about as effective as most shoulder presses, but if you think all the handstand and gymnastics stuff is nice then it might be cool to do for fun.

Just do a set of 20 reps with 315lbs in the squat. Pretty sure that would top anything they got out of this.
@tricepspower9 жыл бұрын
+Tony Dudley No, you don't get it. The amount of volume with the difficulty of the exercises here are way harder then a set of squats for 20... have you ever done handstands push-ups?(or whatever they call it) They are hard as fuck and don't say do a set of seated dumbbell press will do the job lol. These athletes train for a specific sport and squats for 20 is pretty basic for crossfitters so no a set of 20 with X amount of weights will not top this...this shit is harcore as fuck.
@MrOnceinside9 жыл бұрын
What do you know about super setting and giant setting til you puke? It is a very normal circumstance in bodybuilding. A way to add some cardio while maintaining size in short periods of exercise. Wall push ups are nothing. As usual crossfit even cheats at wall push ups. The wall push ups I was taught we touched our nose to the ground. What they are doing is what's known as half wall push up. Not impressed.
@tricepspower9 жыл бұрын
Tony Dudley I know more then you think. You don't get it because you talk about bodybuilding in a crossfit video, don't compare these 2 different goals because here the goal isn't to get bigger so that's why I think it was pretty...naive to compare the 2 of them. I KNOW you will have a good workout with 20 reps of back squat but then again this video isn't about that at all. And that's cool your comparing yourself to top athletes, words mean a lot on a KZbin comment section and YES there is only 1 way to do wall push ups and YOU have the best way of doing it, keep it up!!!

So if Lebron quit basketball and became a 100m sprinter, I'm sure he'd still be a great athlete (after training for a while and losing some muscle mass of course). My point is that there are amazing athletes that do crossfit and they would be incredible athletes regardless of the sport - just depends on what you focus on.
