There is no other proof than the singular line of Crosshair. The writers kept secrecy and unpredictabillity deep within these characters, rarely nailing something down with a waterproof action/line/scene. Tech could have returned until the last 10 minutes of the finale as a example. None of the characters shown in the show had any plot armour except for Rex, Wolffe & Gregor. It felt like everyone can die, which a lot of the new antagonists did. There ain't no unnecessary redemption for a impaled, unnamed, electrocuted and unsympathic commando.

Crosshair had a cut line in tcw where he said "I wouldn't be so loyal if I was left for dead.", in reference to saving Echo, but it's also crazy foreshadowing for his entire arc in tbb. He was left behind by his brothers in the first episode of s1, and he stayed with the Empire. Then he was betrayed by the Empire in s2 and killed Nolan. Crosshair is a flawed character, he sure is a man of his word.

For those in the comments talking about Crosshair's inhibitor chip being a reason for why he still fought with the empire, think on this. From birth, Clones, regardless of whatever MOS they get assigned, are taught to be warriors. Whether they turn out to be Marines, Sailors, Aviators, Soldiers, or crewmen, they are all warriors first and foremost. They are raised for at least 9 whole years, to be fighting men. Now, Crosshair was raised this same way, but we all know that each clone is unique. Crosshair took this training since birth, and clung to it. That's why even when his inhibitor chip was removed, he followed order 66 because it was, an order. When Crosshair spoke about loyalty, he had hoped his brothers would stay with him, and be loyal not to an empire, but at the very least be loyal to him. He grew up with them, they were almost literally made for each other, and they left him. Crosshair's sense of loyalty is not misconstrued, it is not a bad sense of loyalty. Perhaps he gave it to the wrong people, that is certainly possible, but he felt that his place in the galaxy was as a soldier. The Empire needed soldiers, and hell, they even gave him his own squads and operational command. They promoted him, or, rewarded his loyalty. I'm not on the side of the Empire, I'm just laying out the facts. The Empire allowed Crosshair to continue soldiering on, even when the war was over. Being a soldier was all any of the clones knew how to do, the challenge for all of them, was finding out what else they could. Crosshair, will have to find out, but for the majority of the show, we can safely say, he has no clue how to be anything other than a soldier. He is my favorite character because of his arc. He had no inhibitor chip, he was fully conscious, aware and in control of his decisions, yet he joined the empire. He wanted to see for himself, and they hated him for it. I can resonate with that feeling, of betrayal from people because of what you believe in. I think we all can resonate with that. When we think of that silly meme of "He's literally me." We should put Crosshair on that list of people we compare ourselves to. I'd go as far as to say that he's likely the best candidate. He's no Ryan Gosling, nor young Al Pacino, hes virtual, fake. But so are the characters that Ryan and Al play. Crosshair is literally me, because he reminds me that it is never too late to change and do better. That even making the wrong decisions, you can come back and still get a happy ending. He is literally me because I still believe in a happy ending for myself. Sorry for the side tangent, this video was great!

Aside from loyalty, Crosshair also desires purpose. When the Republic collapsed and CF99 went rogue, they lost their purposes as soldiers. Like you said, Crosshair is a soldier through and through. When the Republic and The Bad Batch no longer gave him a purpose to be a soldier, it makes sense that he would join the Empire. They gave him his desired purpose, and he was loyal for it, but as he said, "loyalty meant something to me, but with the Empire, it didn't go both ways."

Great write up and so true. I agree with everything you said. I was in the military for a number of years and while I wasn't the boots on the ground soldier and remember and respect that mind set. I also like you believe in forging yourself and in second chances and in a happy ending. I hope we see in future animated shows how Crosshair's life turns out. Not an entire show but I am vested in his character and want to see what he chose for himself. Also I believe like Echo the Bad Batch should indirectly help the Rebellion and the Underground. They should put being guardians of Omega first and make sure she is safe and has a great childhood while she is still young.

I loved Crosshair (CT-9904) from beginning to end, by far my favourite Batch member. His character arc in the series was just amazing, going from a cold closed off marksman into a more caring and sympathetic brother figure was just great to watch. Hope to see more content with him in it!

My theory is that when the inhibitor chip was enhanced or a point the it was brainwashing. So crosshairs was still under control of the chip’s influence a little bit.

It’s more interesting with the inhibitor chips. Like Crosshair, some clones were initially brainwashed and then were able to discard their chips. Choosing to either leave or stay with the Empire after their chips were removed shows more character development.” Following orders” and betraying Jedi Generals that they fought with for years just because a the head bureaucrat told them to didn’t make much sense

@@_EzGREEN choosing to stay with the empire after getting their chips removed is it nearly as interesting of character development as struggling with the decision of whether or not to kill the Jedi in the moment betray the empire in that moment which is what you're talking about just a little bit earlier or killing the Jedi potentially regretting it or maintaining allegiance with the empire and not regretting it either way all of that is way better character development than what you just described
