Today Is Day #3 Of Crossing America With Only DoorDash/Uber Eats
Here are the rules:
Every dollar i make has to come from delivery apps like doordash uber eats and instacart, and i must only use the profits to cross the country as fast as possible paying for food, hotels, and transportation.

That would have been way cooler. This was kind of a let down tbh. I feel like I wasted a lot of time essentially just watching a guy DoorDash for 3 days. All he did was a bunch of deliveries for 3 days and booked a flight. This would have been way better as a cross country road trip and earning money in different cities each day to get across the country.
@Dope_Digital

@@dannyu3526 Yeah. Although i know you need supporting documentation for each state you work in. Thats the only road block i see in going across the country. My guess is that Doordash may deactivate you otherwise.

Was it worthwhile? Did you get an apartment afterwards? I do Uber and Uber Eats mostly. I hardly ever do Doordash.
@FinancialCharles
@FinancialCharles 7 ай бұрын
@@natashadickson4819 Short answer: my mother eventually asked me to come back home because she was worried about me. I did not get an apartment. Long answer (This is going to be a long comment multiple paragraphs): I think everything is worth experiencing once. I think if I had to do it again, I would do it wayyyy better. But I wouldn't do it again if I didn't have to. The first month was cool because it was something new. For the remainder of that time (especially towards the end of it) I was miserable and I was on the brink of death every single day. I ate only peanut butter sandwiches and thats it. I did that for the sake of saving and investing as much money as I possibly could. That's also why I was living in my car, I didn't want to spend on rent and instead I wanted to invest that money. I will admit I was making the most money I was ever making on delivery apps because the only thing I ever did all day was deliver. After a couple of months, I would be so burned out some days that even if I had a really good $12 4 mile offer I would decline because I wasn't in the mood. At the very end of my stretch, I remember I turned down 2 $90 walmart orders in a row because I was so depressed I didn't want anyone to see me, I didn't want to exist. I was waiting to DlE in my car. I never asked anyone for help, I was ready to for my time to end. My mom told me to come back home because she knew I wasn't doing well. I tracked every single expense on an excel sheet and this was key to my realization. I was living bare bones, cave man lifestyle, starving every day on the brink of death and I ended up spending about 800-1k per month, which is 12k per year for this lifestyle. Let's round it to 15k. I was making about 5k per month from food delivery, so I was investing 4k every month/ 1k every week. A normal, minimalist, perfectly fine lifestyle (nothing fancy) will cost a single person around 30-35k. Maybe closer to 40k nowadays but let's assume 30k. The difference between you living a bare bones miserable lifestyle and a perfectly fine lifestyle is 15k. 30k minus 15k = 15k. In other words, if you give up your comfortable life right now to live in your car and not eat food, you are putting an extra 15k in your pocket per year. It is LESS DIFFICULT and LESS MISERABLE to simply upgrade your skills and get a job that pays 15k more than it is to downgrade your lifestyle to the bare minimum to save 15k. If you live in your car to save money, really you won't be saving enough to justify the misery you might face. Think of it like this: It is less miserable to find a way to upgrade from 65k per year to 80k per year than it is to give everything up and live in your car eating peanut butter sandwiches. I will admit, a large part of the misery was the fact I was eating only peanut butter sandwiches. If I had to do this again, I would certainly give myself permission to eat at restaurants, and I actually think this would've made the experience much more enjoyable because I wouldn't be starving the whole time. But then again, that would've defeated the purpose of me saving and investing the money. I will also admit that me saving and investing this money really set me up to do very well today. I have 100k in assets from saving my doordash money and buying assets that appreciate. Obviously all 100k wasn't from purely doordash. I have a regular job now and use that money for my investments, and my investments have grown a lot over this time frame. My investments have actually made more than I did working. In other words, more than half the money I currently have is from investing whatever money I had. To conclude: I think you should try living in your car for a little bit just for the experience. Once you go through that experience, you will appreciate your current lifestyle more. Like I said, I look back at these times fondly even though it was miserable because it shaped me and it taught me one of the most valuable lessons I've learned in life so far. I would also recommend doing this if you are racing to build up your investments. But I only recommend it if you are willing to go to the extremes. There are not many people in this world that are willing to do this extreme but I was willing to do it. If I could give you the best advice, it's just to upgrade your skillset so you can make 15k-20k more per year right now so you don't have to live in your car for that extra 15k-20k. And also, please invest as much money as you possibly can.

First and foremost, I have to say this was a brilliant idea for a series. For all those people who say you can’t make money working these apps, you have proven that you absolutely can even in extreme situations. You also know your market very well having lived in Boston before so anyone who would question your strategy would be just hating without facts. Great content as always and I look forward to seeing any and every challenge that you tackle next.

Amazing Series. with a final musical score that perfectly complements the experience. I believe this series transcends a mere coast-to-coast travelogue, it's a metaphorical journey through adversity and poverty. It serves as a vivid snapshot of the United States, capturing its car-centric infrastructure, diverse economy, myriad opportunities, inherent paradoxes, and complex issues. This series is more than just a KZbin video: it is an anthropological documentary that profoundly explores societal themes and the United States as a whole. Greetings from Italy.
