I believe what happens when you get thos luls when it should be busy is that a bunch of driver turn on there app and start delivering. Like at lunch 11 is about the right time that would happen, I have run into drivers that have told me they work a full time job, but then instead of going to lunch at 11 or 12 they turn on the app and take a couple pf deliveries. This also happens right around 5 to 530 pm in my area. I think it is the same thing. A bunch of epople who work 9 to 5 just turned on the app, and so there are just too many drivers for the number of orders. If we had a better econpmy this would not be as bad, because these people would be ordering food, instead turning on there app to try and make a few extra bucks.

Wow man, that’s impressive. Seems like it’s a great market there. I feel AZ would be a nice place to drive as it seems super spaced out for a metro area + it always being dry. I’m 10 mins outside of Seattle & it’s been pretty slow here. The weather has been bad & freezing. Not to mention lack of daylight (gets dark around 5pm). Hoping it picks up soon.

I’d suggest the Durham NC area. Durham is surprisingly even better than Raleigh is for some reason. Plus cheaper than Boston and phoenix. It’s amazing for food delivery especially given the not so expensive cost. I lived there and moved recently but it’s absolutely amazing for delivery even with Instacart too.

How much per hour?
@Adays700
@Adays700 11 ай бұрын
@@trevorsdeliveries I averaged about $25-$30 per hour before expenses. Occasionally low 20’s but usually doesn’t happen where it’s that bad. Sometimes in the early to mid 30’s for long periods of time during really busy hours. I used DD, Uber eats, Grubhub, and instcart. Unfortunately I’m still on the Walmart spark waiting list so it probably would’ve helped some too. I even got Para catering orders often especially close to the RTP area. But I was diamond on instacart and I know you hate it but I’m telling you the wegmans in Durham-chapel hill especially during morning and afternoon is amazing for instacart and especially for diamond. But food delivery close to Duke is the best. The traffic isn’t too bad there especially compared to other busy areas in the triangle and solid high paying orders from the rich duke students and Durham and Orange County residents. It’s cheapest to live closer to Streets of Southpoint part of Durham compared to closer to duke and downtown. And you’ll probably not want to live in the east part of Durham since some areas there can be sketchy.

@@trevorsdeliveries if you do move to Durham, I’ll give you all my secrets for success there since I no longer live there and have to worry about competition lol. Also in general the key to a great delivery city are these 3 things: mostly liberal (most cities are but more so compared to most cities), wealth, and a large 20’s and 30’s population. The reason Phoenix has been meh for you is it’s not that liberal of a city especially compared to most cities of its size. Liberals on average tip more than conservatives. It’s the absolute biggest factor. Wealth matters too but it’s more about just not being in a poor area. Not nearly as important as the liberal factor. Last is 20’s and 30’s since that age group orders food delivery the most.

I live in the suburbs just outside of Indianapolis and you could make over $20 an hour working at any fast food or retail location in my area. Once you account for vehicle, fuel, insurance and taxes it's really not worth it and doing delivery hasn't been worth it since about 2018 when all of the major delivery platforms cut pay for like the 10th time. I'm sure a lot of people were able to make some money over the pandemic but even in August of 2020 Uber cut pay yet again to the essential drivers.

@@AB-bc9tf Yeah I live in a slow market as well. If you're only accepting orders above $1.50 per mile, you'll be losing money compared to accepting $0.75 mile, because you'll get the $0.75 mile order in 5 minutes, but you'll be waiting on a $1.50 for over half an hour if not longer. All about your market. We need to move to better markets. You can still do $15-20 an hour here if you're willing to do long orders and drive above the speed limit. So unless your market is absolutely horrible, you can still make above minimum wage even after expenses calculated, but you're gonna be struggling if you live alone.

@AB-bc9tf 11 ай бұрын
@@joshuawh yeah some of the orders with more money are really far and there are no stores near them so if I do those I have to double the time I spend and double the miles I have to drive which means I’m actually making less. I know people say “no tip no trip” but the orders I like the best are 2 mile orders with base and peak pay. It means I stay in the hot spot, I’m done quickly and it was 2$ a mile. Sure I’d like them to pay but most people don’t seem to tip out here unless they live far. Then know if they only pay 2-3$ for the delivery fee and they’re 8 miles away from civilization no one would bring them food.

I think Sonoma California would be good for you. I’m thinking you will make 250 a day at least and it’s beautiful near the Ocean and the people are nice and legit It’s great in the summer with skateparks and it’s super safe. And of course the weather is epically great but no snow but Tahoe is hours away no humidity ever and even through it’s warm here in Napa /Sonoma the ocean is like 40 minutes where its perfect with redwood forest’s and what not
