That's some amazing engineering! Some of the best infrastructure is the result of an 'unsolicited proposal'. Great video!

that bridge is crazy long. How do ships pass, it seems kind of low though.
@FreewayTim8 жыл бұрын
+Trans Canada Phil In the middle of the bridge, There is a large hump as seen at 3:25. Its rare that large ships pass through the straight anyway.

ya I don't know why a ship would decide to go through the the strait since the there is the Atlantic ocean right beside them

thanks for the history of the bridge. I don't know if I could drive it, I tend to have panic attacks. I'm so tired of being scared.
@FreewayFranks4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can drive it. The speed limit is not very fast and the walls on both sides of the road are blocking the view, so you can feel safe.

I noticed the traffic signals along the bridge. Is that to control the flow of traffic and disperse the weight of vehicles along the span?
@FreewayFranks5 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon. No, I rather think it's to remind people some safety measures, per example, not using your cellphone or buckle up yourself while driving.

We definitely have some pretty long Bridges here in the United States, but yeah that is a long Bridge, it actually looks kind of amazing
@FreewayFranks6 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I would not compare our Canadian infrastructures to USA. It's not even close. But considering it is Canada, the Confederation Bridge is quite long yes lol
@assaultislove8 жыл бұрын
Awesome video! I wonder how much the opening of the bridge directly impacted PEI? I'm pretty sure It's not as isolated as it once was
@FreewayFranks8 жыл бұрын
Thats a freakin good question...but I'm pretty sure it helped its tourism alot making it easier to visit than ever. The only flaw is the toll. At 45$ it's quite expensive. But I come to say that if you came to visit P.E.I. you did a long ride to get there.... you can certainly afford it. Thanks for commenting my friend.

What a lame bridge ! Single lane - no view whatsoever of the ocean - soild lines so no possiblity to pass Sunday drivers ! Not even a rest area to take a dump !!!! 🤮
@FreewayFranks3 жыл бұрын
I know right? I like this bridge, but in case of an eventual population boom on PEI island, there is no way to widen this bridge. They should have made it wider in first place IMO...tho, It's still quite the improvement compared to the former Ferry...
