I did this same trip few weeks ago on a xr416r big bore looks a bit dryer when u guys went through. We had nothing but mud pans. We did it east to west unassisted. Good job guys

Another great video mate, with some quality commentary, a few good laughs. You fellas make a good crew, looking out for each other well and having fun. I know that feeling of the slow going KMS wise at the start, it really is a tough old ride the French Line!

I rode through last weekend on me own on KLR. Those soft steep top of some dunes cut up by the 4wds were hard. well done boys.

@anotherguyonabike4726 as long as I didn't stop it was all good haha!!. But you just had to hit them at the right pace and hang on. After unloading once when I fell just short, that the first gear tractoring worked very well. It wasn't pretty!

Thanks man appreciate it. Yeah I would definitely look at getting my forks done to offset the extra weight, I done the rear spring but should have done the front. Possibly fit a Sargent seat as well for those bigger days on the bitumen. Thanks for watching mate👍

@@whiteunicornDR659 the weight definitely didn’t help but I’d say less experience for sure. He’d never actually rider sand before this trip and even if he’d been picking up a lighter bike the sheer amount of times he had to would fatigue anyone I reckon. Towards the end of the trip he was heaps better on it, dropping less often which let us ride for long with lower fatigue.

@ reason I ask is I’m tossing up between DR or DRZ (I’ve owned both) for similar trip. I’m more your size so DR weight not so much an issue and I’m thinking it’s touring comfort outweighs the DRZ’s off-road advantage for such a trip?

Yeah Roger that, they were good for us to communicate if one had fallen off or if there was a vehicle coming up the other side of a dune but that’s all we used them for. Thanks for watching mate👍
