I think the difference between the able sisters and Nook's cranny is that Nook's cranny is more of a "corporate" thing, likely with their own guidelines for store hours. While the able sisters are more of a family-run small business and they're willing to keep open to satisfy the customer. especially when they comes over as often as you do and are a friend

I just discovered this yesterday when upgrading the museum on my second island to add the art exhibit. When you stand next to the plot when it's under construction with the scaffolding and all that, you can hear little hammers and stuff working on the building! And it stops after dark, like they're done for the day. I only heard it with headphones, so I'm not sure if it's audible without. It is pretty quiet to begin with. Also, you can hear Isabelle's bell hair tie jingle when she moves her head during the morning announcements in headphones, too!

I teraformed a secret narrow pathway down to Redd's beach then added a stairway to it and got the same message about it being cramped. All the villagers were jammed into the small pathway with a couple that just wouldn't fit standing up on the cliff looking down. It was hilarious. Hmmm, I wonder if I kept a picture of it.

Fun fact: before you donate flys, but you have ants donated, you can see why they escaped. There is cup of tea on the table, which is covered by the fly cage once you donate it. But the tea has sugar cubes, and that’s what they want. :) it’s honestly such a cute idea/Easter egg.

Hi, just an animal crossing tip that I haven't seen people talk about. The keyboards on Animal Crossing are touchscreen. If you are trying to type something in, for example, the name of a custom design, you can just touch each letter, and it will work. It's really convenient, and not many people seem to know this. I would like to point out if you open other villagers gifts and then rewrap it with the gift wrap paper they wouldn’t bat an eye when it is delivered. This method is good for filling out your inventory or to make sure villagers don’t get items you don’t want them to have.

I got that cramped dialogue when i built an incline close to a cliff too, so it's not just buildings. Also, one time i delivered a soccer top to one of my villagers from another villager. When she moved away, she left the top. I forgot the circumstances of when she got that top initially, and one day i decided to give it to the villager who had me deliver the gift in the first place, so he remembered the top. It's cool that he remembered it even though that exchange happened months before.

The cramped dialogue actually happens with inclines too. Most of my inclines I have lots of terraforming around them, so all my villagers were very cramped at the ceremony. I would assume it would be the same bridges as well if conditions were right.

Actually you can stay in Nooks Cranny after close by using the sit emote. They wont kick you out till after you stand up. Other small details: Blathers will always be awake on dream islands because he can't sleep in a dream. Sometimes sisterly villagers will mention they are reading a book. One of the books they mention is by Dr Shrunk. Gullivarr will sometimes namecheck Captain Syrup from the Shantae series as well as locations from Donkey Kong Country.

Not sure if you know this, but villagers who hold lollipops NEVER exercise! This excludes the scripted group activity in the plaza and excludes the villagers with fitness hobby (eg: Phoebe). I used to think it was just Erik being lazy until I realized I've never seen my newer villager Avery exercise as well. I don't even know what type of track jacket Avery wears! The only common factor is that they eat lollipops instead of doughnuts or sandwiches.

I miss the megaphone from New Leaf, it would wake Gulliver instantly and he’d be like “Aye-aye Captain!” I’d noticed the ants, if you follow them they’re actually raiding a sugar cube next to the coffee cup in the working scientist area. I like how when you put an item with water in it like a bucket or goldfish bowl outside and it rains you can see ripples from the rain falling into it. I got the cramped ceremony dialogue once, I’d cut a narrow channel through some cliffs to make a direct route to Redd’s hidden cove and put some stairs down there and the narrow passageway triggered it.

I restarted the game when I couldn't find Hamlet, which was the last villager on the island I had to give a gift for that day. Each time I restart, the villager is somewhere new and I don't know what they are wearing. I gave hamlet the same thing in the same color that he was already wearing! He said, "A baseball uniform! The biggest difference between the stores is the corporate vs small business model. The Able Sisters shop is a small business, only the two people run it. However, Nook's Cranny is *technically* run by Tom, but is *managed* by the twins

The music that's played at Nook's Cranny is the same music that some Japanese stores play to let customers know that it will be closing soon. The grocery in Mitsuwa marketplace in NJ used to play the song. That's how we recognized it in the game.

I remember once I accidentally regifted something to Rocket that she gave me. I ran around for like a day or two with it in my pocket and decided I just didn't want it, but at that point I had completely forgotten who gave it to me and I was like "I'm just gonna give it to Rocket, I think she'd like it". So I gave it to her and she mumbled something like "huh, this looks familiar." I felt so bad about it too. I did not mean to give it to the person who gifted it to me but I forgot it was her who gave it to me. I also once accidentally opened a gift that was for someone else. I did tell the truth, because I felt bad lying, and felt horrible that I opened it. The gift was also from Rocket so I just kept making mistakes with Rocket. Both of these stories were from the first month or so of me ever playing an animal crossing game I think. So I was still learning how things worked.

Nooks cranny playing music a few minutes before they close is such a Japan thing to do. In Japan they play a song to let you know that it is closing time. Works too. People all immediately make for the exit.

Also, about Nook's Cranny, they'll actually kick you out once the store closes if you stay 'til then. I actually found that out a long time ago. They're polite about it though. They say, "As much as we enjoy having you around, it's past our closing hours."
