Paul Leary is a fantastic guitarist and a very, very cool person. I've been a Buttholes fan since the mid-80s and have been fortunate enough to meet and hang out with them a few times. Paul is always friendly, appreciative of his fans, and very self-deprecating. Or was it self-defecating?

Timothy leary and son , both are absolute legends , i wished id grown up with paul and all his friends that trashed timothy learys home time and time again. I dunno how many eons paul spent playing on a guitar , but imho been able to transmit higher being frequency on more than 19 dimentions kinds makes you a god . Thanks paul for that masterpiece existance and what you made with it. Hope his energy will echo and keep shaking all the temples of times , forever

This was amazing! I would have chosen “Lady Sniff” as Paul’s guitar tour de force, but it’s all good. In Vai’s defense, he did give us at least ONE album, “Flex-able”, that I would rate up there with the Butthole Surfers’ ‘80s stuff in terms of creativity and fun. And “So Happy”! Hopefully we will see his whimsical more experimental side again, and more often. And Mr. Leary has a new album! (Whatever happened to the one the Surfers were supposedly making?)

From time to time I check out Steve Vai’s newer albums in the hopes of finding something as warped as his early stuff, and after seeing this epic guitar duel, I just went and listened to some of Vai’s “Modern Primitive”. Well, “Hairway to Steven” it ain’t, but what I heard ain’t bad. Who says we have to pick one or the other? Looking forward to hearing all of “Born Stupid”!!

New Butthole Surfers: Gibby was in the middle of writing a young adult fiction book called "Mr. Cigar and I" and backed out of the sessions. Some of what it would have been became the Cocky Bitches 2018 album "Mercy" iirc. Very late 80s Butthole type of stuff. Not amazing, a little samey, but a nice recall.
