I found the first "Tal" move, but not the correct follow up. I wanted to recapture with the other rook, not the pawn and follow up by pushing the h pawn. I think I still get a strong attack that way, but I'm not sure it's as good. Did not find the Q sac leading to mate because I have an aversion to parting with the lady. In fact, after 50 years of playing and many beautiful combinations, I have never sacrificed my Queen! Need to work on that one.

Alexander Kotov and Mikhail Yudovich, the late authors of the popular book "Soviet Chess School" wrote on Iron Tigran: "... combinative play has never been to alien to Tigran Petrsosyan... when you play with him you realize that all your plans are simply disrupted...". This game by the two chess masters (sorry monsters) is a proof for it.

opinions on 18. Nd6? i'm assuming black would capture with e pawn, white would then capture that pawn with the queen, exchanging the knight for the 2 center pawns while keeping the black knight on c6 pinned for capture next move. in total going 2 pawns up, or not?

He said that when Tal sacrifice a piece he might sacrify anothe and then another so you might be fine, but when Petrosian sacrify you might as well resign because Petrosian was famous for his defence and safe games, so much so that he was ridiculed by soviets for a period where he had only draws..

I have to be missing something but I'm not sure what; at 5:06 why did keres not take the knight with the E3 bishop? After pawn takes queen takes and you win a pawn right? Because if black takes your knight on b5 then you can take again with queen, trade queens and rooks and still retain a pawn edge right? Black doesn't seem to have anything with the G7 bishop, moving it to h6 at any point during that seems like a false threat because it's easily avoided. What am I missing or what was he going for with the line he eventually played?
