Hey little fun fact: French toasts are called "pain perdu" in France which basically means "lost bread" because we cook this recipe when we waited too long to eat bread and it gets a little too old to eat it so we cook it this way to "save it" and not to waste any food : )

I highly recommend adding powdered sugar, chocolate syrup and banana slices on top! We somehow managed to make 7 slices of toast and omg I am NOT exaggerating.... it was SOOO GOOD! The bread absorbed the nice sweet savory flavours and the texture was moist and bouncy. it was sooo easy to cook! I'm just a kid and I made this all by my self! If my lazy body could make it, then I bet anyone could! And in the end its all worth it because its very filling and you won't be hungry anymore for sure! Best French toast recipe indeed. Merci!

"French bread " in France is called "Pain perdu" which means "Lost bread" and so originally the recipe is made with old dried bread and that's why you soak it first, but nowadays we do it with fresh bread and so, of course, you don't need to soak it, a quick dip like in the video is enough.

I let the bread soak for 10 minutes to a half hour, depending on how dry it is. So it tastes like egg, which I thought was the point of french toast. Don't really understand this "quick dip" thing, but I think it has to do with people who think deep down that raw eggs are "icky" and disgusting. That's why he insists that the eggs be thoroughly beaten "no globules". It's like people who must have their hamburgers burned to a crisp, or like people who (over) boil shrimp or lobster to death in an unconscious attempt to sanitize the food.

When making your own food you need to go to the supermarket, a kitchen that's clean enough to prepare food and motivation to actually cook. All things that can be fairly hard when dealing with mental issues like depression. I absolutely agree that cooking yourself is so much better and tastier but sometimes it's already hard enough to eat, let alone preparing it. Blue Dog Gaming Probably not Too Bad. It would basically be scrambled eggs/an omelette (depending on how you cook them in the pan) but with cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla. The milk doesn’t change the taste of the eggs much (I add milk to my eggs when making omelettes. Makes them fluffier). So I’d guess it would be like a dessert omelette? It sounds weird but I can’t imagine it tasting TOO bad. If I ever make this I’ll let you know lol

I use half stale bread. I find if the bread is fresh from a soft loaf, it tends to get soggy quicker when you batter it. I always set my bread on the counter and let it air dry for an hour before I batter it. It makes the batter AND the syrup absorb better.

I made this years ago at the nursing home. I was the only one of the cooks who bothered to add vanilla and cinnamon. The kitchen supervisor said she instantly knew it was me cooking breakfast because of the aroma of the added flavorings wafting down the hall as she entered the building. It was the little extra touch which helped in peaking the poor appetites of the residents that made all the difference. When I made it at home once I added a bit of eggnog flavored creamer at the holiday. So good.

at 3 am most peoples bodies pass the fatigue and nausea phase. so basically if ur staying up long past ur bodies clock at once stage u start feeling tired and even sick but soon after you fight through that and u feel awake even for another whole day. for most people that would be 3 am, everyone starts feeling lively and is actually paying attention therefore commenting. And obviously some people just like the phrase that came from that i guess lol.
