I love it. :) I'm curious though, how do you know if you're using enough or too much osmocote? Is there some rule of thumb you use to avoid burning?
@AnotherWorldTerraria

I tend to err on the side of under-fertilizing, and most of the plants I grow can do well with lower nutrient levels. To be safe, you should probably limit the max to what the instructions say on the label, and then maybe even go lower (1/2 to 1/4 the recommended dose).

Beautiful work, as always. I'm looking forward to learning more about your peat moss and clay mixture. I did some experimenting with moss and a coco coir/clay/sand mixture, and it hasn't seemed to work out nearly as well as I had hoped.

Hey Matthew awesome final chapter love how you have arranged the comp adding the small flowering plant. How often do you spray the tank? Do you monitor temp and humidity in some way? There isn't any airflow? I remember in your videos very often you recommend small fans and air grids. Definitely, you have inspired me to create a new terrarium. I bought a nano tank on sale it is cubic and now I am thinking to a good comp. Big congrats dude! You rock
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Enrico, I appreciate the kind words and support. I probably spray the tank once per week or so. I don't monitor the temp or humidity of any of my tanks or plants other than generally watching the temperature of the entire house/rooms, and keeping watch on things / feeling the substrate occasionally to see if watering is needed. No airflow in this tank, it has worked pretty well so far. I still use fans for some builds and plant growing containers. It depends on a lot of factors but usually tall vertical tanks need fans more than horizontal ones, as well as anything that has lots of orchids, and grow tents. I am looking forward to seeing what you make for any future builds, including the cube tank. I also just bought a cube tank because I wanted to challenge myself on composition.

Looks great! Thank you for taking us through the whole process! I have few questions about the light and watering. How do you know that the light is too bright and has to be dimmed? Did you add a lot of water in the beginning? And what do you mean by sealed? A tight glass lid that came with the aquarium or something custom made?
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
Regarding the light brightness, I can tell two ways. 1. Since I grow lots of plants, I have a general feeling for light brightness and can just tell by looking at it, and 2. You can look at how the plants respond - color changes, leaf shape and size changes, etc. The ferns get pale in bright light, and the Reldia turns reddish. I prefer lower light so they are a nice green color and grow more open. I misted the tank in the beginning, but did not add a lot of water. I am using plastic wrap / Saran wrap for the lid, sealed completely to the glass with no ventilation. I might change it to a glass plate at some point.

@@AnotherWorldTerraria I've been experimenting with moss terrariums for couple of years. It often happens that after 2-3 month moss is getting weaker. I do try to keep both the soil and the moss itself humid all the time and it gets average defused light from the window. I use glass lid, so there are small openings for air circulation. Would you have an idea on what could be the reason for that? Would you say that sealed environment is better? Are there any that moss doesn't get enough light? Thank you for your great and inspiring work.
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
I can't say what is causing the issue of your moss getting weaker after a few months. Often people use temperate species which don't fare as well in tropical conditions. Some (but not all) tend to decline after time. I am not sure if there would be enough light from the window. I would put an LED light directly over the moss. Many people don't give moss enough light. Use good water also, with low TDS.

That was a stunning finisher for this series, thank you very much! :) May I ask how to get unexpected (at least from my point of view) growth of moss/fern from the substrate? Is there anything special I have missed in previous parts? I can't find any tropical moss spores package unfortunatelly.
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. If you create a terrarium and have moisture, humidity, decent light, etc, then over time the moss will just appear. It comes from substrate, wood, and so on.

This build is wonderful! I love this terrarium. Out of curiosity, do you ever have issues with the sphagnum moss taking over? Or is it already dead when you use it? Whenever I used sphagnum moss in my builds it ended up taking over!
@AnotherWorldTerraria
@AnotherWorldTerraria 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, sphagnum moss will grow back from spore that is contained in the dead/dried stuff. I can't remember if I used sterilized sphagnum or not in this build. I guess we shall find out. Sometimes I sterilize the sphagnum, which doesn't 100% stop, but does reduce the amount of sphagnum that grows back. See www.anotherworldterraria.com/how-to-sterilize-sphagnum-moss-so-it-doesnt-grow-back/
