I'm so so so happy you're doing a reading vlog for this series! The first two books were kinda meh for me but boy oh boy I loved the rest so much. Can't wait for the video on Heir of Fire :) What I also love about long book series is that you can really see how much the characters grow. Like Celaena starts of as immature, selfish, cold, etc. But when I think of her now, I hear the words courage, love, compassion, sacrifice, selflessness, strength.

I definitely agree that the first 2 books were all setup for the rest of the series. In fact when I reread the series I usually start at book 3 (and skill Chaol’s book too lol)!!

I also have the depression-need to emotionally attach myself to a story to feel alive. Wish my hair would look as dope as yours while doing that - all I can manage at the moment is a messy top-knot. XD I’ve never read the Throne of Glass series but I really enjoy following your commentary about it

This is my favorite series of all time. The first 2 books are definitely the worst and sometimes don't even feel like they're part of the same story as the rest of the series. Every book is better than the last.

I lost my will to read the another book in this series because the first 2 books just got me like nahhh i can't do it anymore... Celaena is the most annoying character... Wtf is wrong with Chaol i am still confused where is loyality lies.. there is no chemistry between them she literally tried to kill him over what *a misunderstanding* which she already knows WOW CLASSIC CELAENA☠️

@@chandlerainsley Happy to hear you’re okay ❤️ I totally understand having your mental health decline during winter. I live in Sweden and have learned to expect an annual depressive episode when we get the least amount of daylight (only about 6 h/day 🙃) at the end of December. It sucks, but I do find that being able to predict it does make it easier to manage.

Thank god I found this video I've just finished CoM this week cause I'm doing my own re-read of the series. I feel like 1) this book should've given Nehemia's POV. She was obviously doing some interesting things and it would've been interesting to see the conflict she had about protecting Celaena/ helping the rebels/ freeing the slaves in the mines. AND 2) Did Chaol really learn anything from his mistake? Forcing Celaena to leave Erilea and go to Wendlyn without consulting her again shows his misplaced good intentions, like how he kept the rumor about Nehemia's life a secret from both N and C. Obviously sending her to another continent HAS to happen to move the plot forward for the next book, but character wise by doing so... did he really learn anything from the role he played in Nehemia's death?

So the first three books drag. Not gonna lie. BUT, keep going. The story gets a lot better. The romance takes a backseat for the whole series (at least in comparison to ACOTAR), but it's enough to be palatable. I loved the series once I got to the 4th book. The only one I truly didn't like was Tower of Dawn, it was an entire book of side-plot. Just keep pushing you can do it.

How do you pick up new books in a series you haven’t read in a while? I find it really hard to get back into because I’ve forgotten so make details and character motives/backgrounds. Often, I find myself completely lost!

i don't usually do it honestly! i've read ToG a couple times though so the story is pretty fresh in my head, plus i can go back and watch my last vid to jog my memory. don't have any good tips tbh since i typically don't pick up series in the middle, i make myself reread from the beginning

I found the next book so depressing. It didn't help that I was also deeply depressed so it just fed off my feels but yeah. And the last two made me mad. Tower of dawn cause it was so pointless and the last one cause it mentions many times that the series happened in a YEAR!! Which doesn't work

Celeana was my ultimate unlikable character and not in a fun “love to hate them” way. I made it to book four and could not listen to her complain anymore. Also she didn’t kill enough people to be the most bare minimum assassin ever. If we had gotten this “the whole assassin thing is a lie” I would’ve been more intrigued than Sarah telling us all the ways Celeana thinks of killing people but never does 🙄 love your reading vlogs!
