Wow. If there is a single song that shows the improvement and evolution of Crown the Empire as a band, it would be this one. When I first heard it I had to double check I didn't click on the wrong video because it didn't sound like them! Every member of the band has improved so much, sure the song may have been better with more screams, but you also have to appreciate the time and work they took to put it together, and I think this is one of their best songs yet. This band has improved so much.

lately i've been listening to a lot of the songs that were the soundtrack to my life during my most hard-core emo phase. a lot has happened since that time. i acknowledge that it was just a phase, but i didn't realise at the time how happy i was, and how much simpler things were. we felt like the coolest people in the world, blasting music full of guitars and planning what we would do when BLI (or something similar) took over the world. feeling like renegades, planning adventures, getting excited at even the smallest victories. i was so more hopeful then, wanted to do everything in the world, thought i had the power for everything. i guess you could say i've matured, or you could say that i lost my fervour for everything. it's nostalgic listening to stuff like this, but it's also sad because like i've disappointed 12 year old me in her off-brand mcr t-shirt and plans to start a band and a revolution and do everything in between. i don't think i can do everything anymore. these songs are like a reminder of every thing i've given up on. anyway, sorry for the long vent. if anyone's still reading this, i'm sure you're awesome and you can do everything you want, and your music taste is not cringy in its unconventiality. life doesn't always turn out as expected, but sometimes that's for the best i guess. this whole paragraph doesn't even really have a point, but sometimes i feel like screaming into the void anyway. stay cool

The music is original, different. They have their own sound instead of just becoming of the sound many bands have now. Dave is as much of a member of a band as Andy and I like that he's not just the screamer, that he's also appearing more. Total respect to this album. Love CTE.

They're really not that original. Memphis May Fire's song Vices has similar riffs, and the same key & tonality. The intro of this song was different, but CtE shares a lot of the same elements as bands today.

Which they most likely won't use live, cause Vocoder live creates so much feedback. So to all of the people saying that the "auto-tune is unnecessary" and that "he didn't have to use this in the original EP," a) it creates a different sound from normal singing and b) he did use Vocoder in the Limitless EP and the "voices" track in the opening. Actually, Andy used a Vox Vocoder which created the harmonizes and how they were able to be correct to the exact harmonized point as his regular singing pitch. People need to research the different between Vocoder, Auto-tune, and "vocal correction programs" before they judge a band and the clean vocalist of it.

To everyone saying the intro isn't the greatest keep this in mind... CTE puts a lot of thought and time into putting on a great live show. While the intro doesn't make much sense as a song alone, it is a great intro for getting up onto stage. If you have been to any of their shows, they open up with Johnny's Revenge which also has a weird start, but is great for getting on stage. It's even got the same feel as Johnny's Revenge, a recording that would be played followed by a simple yet strong drum beat, then all the members get on stage. Listen to it again and just picture them going onto stage and you'll see that the intro really works as a great opening song.

There are plenty of bands with lead guitars on Rise. Memphis May Fire had a "solo" in the song "Alive In The Lights" and that was in 2012, so they beat Crown The Empire by plenty.

I really liked Crown the Empire from the start because you could tell they have a mind for music, but it's interesting how with the previous album I found the guitars kept the same kind of themes running. If you listen to dave's screams in the fallout album, you can EASILY distinguish his screams from anyone elses. Crown the empire is NOT my favorite band, but as for screaming, I think they are definitely at the top for the cleaness.

Andy IS lead singer. Dave is the main screamer. Just because they have a few songs of Dave singing more than Andy doesn't me he claims to be lead singer. He's said in a couple interviews that he is backing vocals and just main screamer. They are both well balanced on songs. Like mnstr and millennia, but having two vocalists who do the same thing isn't bad like they put on a great show live
