My 08 crown Victoria with the rear cats deleted, running 2.25" pipe, O/R x pipe and super 10 flowmasters. Slight cold start.

Man that car sounds good, it looks good too. My cats got clogged on both banks in my 2003 P71, probably because of the 103 octane I was running. I ended up hollowing them out with a hammer and muriatic acid, all four of them. Also replaced all four oxygen sensors, and after 1500 miles I have yet to get a check engine light...
@Marcos-bh1mf Жыл бұрын
my cats seemed to be clogged and o2 sensor check engine came one could my cats be the issue? I replaced the sensors and light continues on
@whyareyoureadingmyname585423 күн бұрын
You should try redlining it a bit more to clear some of it out if you ever get an issue like that again. I heard Mazda advised RX8 owners to do that to avoid the cats being clogged up. I know that's a rotary I'm comparing this to but surely the issue is the same thing. Please correct me if I'm wrong tho lol

Hey, I have an 06 MGM. I had a custom catback built. 2.5" pipes, x pipe and with borla xs mufflers. Sounds super clean. Highway is very comfortable. I do want a bit more sound. Debating on deleting the rear cats or swapping with resonators.

I appreciate your replies about the check engine light/emissions. Did the car run any different after your exhaust mods? I imagine the ecu would figure things out after a little idling, but my buddy insists "you need a tune" 🙄
@dad-rodgarage48312 жыл бұрын
No tune needed. Only if you delete the primary cats(closest to the manifolds would you need one). Car woke up some after I did the x pipe but only on the high end of the rpm’s. Sound changed a lot though.
@KyrieEleisonMaranatha2 жыл бұрын
You don't need a tune at all of you weld in o2 bungs in the straight pipe. Or you can weld in spark plug foulers. You only need a tune if you remove an o2 sensor.
@tylerseabook942310 ай бұрын
@@KyrieEleisonMaranatha so if I remove all 4 and both cats but weld the bungs for the sensors I won’t get a light? I find that hard to believe seeing as the sensors are going to read dirty exhaust because the cats aren’t there to do their job.
@KyrieEleisonMaranatha10 ай бұрын
@@tylerseabook9423 yeah you can straight pipe it and buy the pipe with O2 bungs already welded on. Then you you might have to do the spark plug fouler trick. Where you screw your o2 into a spark plug fouler adapter. Then you screw the adapter into the o2 bung on the pipe. But sometimes the straight pipe procedure doesn't trip the cel. But I would definitely have some spark plug fouler adapters on hand before starting.

When you delete the rear cats did you have a check engine light
@dad-rodgarage48312 жыл бұрын
No engine light. The rear cats are not monitored, just the ones in the downpipes.
@burmesebeef3 жыл бұрын
Does it drone? Also Did you lose any lowend power with the x pipe?
@dad-rodgarage48313 жыл бұрын
No real noticeable drone. Low end stayed the same but had small gain at mid and high range.

Hey after you did the 2nd cats delete what did you do with the sensors?
@dad-rodgarage48313 жыл бұрын
Secondary cats are not monitored only the primaries. No sensors to mess with.

@@dad-rodgarage4831 oh ok awesome and did you still pass emmisons? And what did you put there to replace the cats? Jsuf a strait pipe? Or makeshift pipe.?
@dad-rodgarage48313 жыл бұрын
I built an entire exhaust off the bottom of the down pipes. Installed the x pipe when I did. I live in an emissions free county so not sure about that. It burns clean though.

@@dad-rodgarage4831 My 2006 have 4 oxygen sensors. 1 for each cat, so how does your 2008 have only 2? All OBD2 cars have 4 oxygen sensors.
@ryanlewis2410 Жыл бұрын
@@j.t.cooper2963 town car has 2 up stream o2 and 2 downstream o2 sensors. 2 are before the 1st cat, and 2 are right after the first cat. They monitor the exhaust entering and exiting the first cat only. Secondary set of cats are unmonitored.

what x pipe did you install?
@dad-rodgarage48313 жыл бұрын
It’s a bbk x pipe that I modified the inlet pipes to fit the vics down pipes. Basically I had to widen it a little to fit right.
