Good that you noted that the 5 digit code on the bottom right of that module is the unlock code for the keypad on the outside of the door. I get that question all the time.

If it's just the relays that go bad on these, some smart engineering type is gonna be a hero offering a rebuild service.

Thanks for showing me this. My 2005 Crown Vic with under 60K miles was having this issue. I tried the Honda hack (where one door was not completely shut thus prohibiting the driver door from locking), nope doesn't solve it. I was about to give up believing it was either the actuator for that door, or the entire module that needed replacing. Knowing your video showed me the approximate location of the module, I bent down and hit my fist twice against the door panel in that area. Then I tried the key fob again. SUCCESS! So perhaps a loose or corroded connection. Anyhow, the free fix worked for now.

The door slamming can cause all sorts of problems with this module. I've had my gas door pop in opportunly as well as my trunk, my autolocks possessed by Satan. Additionally it has a relay for the power windows. If you find some of your windows not working and the motor can still be pushed, it could be a wiring issue, put that module is a hub for a lot of electrical issues. These modules can be gotten at a junkyard with or without similar problems, but if the motor and wiring are good, take a chance.

Mine does the same thing but its the front passenger door . Would it still be the module on the drivers door or is there a separate passenger side ? Do you know by any chance?
@JackofAllMasterofNone3 жыл бұрын
If it's just the passenger door and the rear doors work fine it more likely a bad actuator or a broken wire.

I have a 2011 CVPI. I had a locksmith try to program the keyless to no avail. The car only has 68,000 on the odometer so it seems unlikely the module has went bad. We pulled off the door panel and the module appears to be in great shape, all the wires are connected and he was able to program it through the OBD port but when he tried the ignition programming it simply wouldn't work (that is the car locks didn't cycle). Any ideas? I also can't for the life of me find the fuse/relay that controls this module.
@JackofAllMasterofNone3 жыл бұрын
What did he use to program it? If it wasn't Forscan or the Ford IDS it probably won't work.

I ended up going with a Viper V3100 1 way car alarm. It has it's own module (completely bypassing the OEM Door Module on my CVPI). Simply splice into the existing wires. It unlocks/locks the doors, has a trunk release and panic button on the fob. When I put the car into drive the doors auto lock and when into park they unlock. $70 on Amazon. www.amazon.com/Viper-3100V-1-Way-Security-System/dp/B00CPGU03Y/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=viper+keyless+car+alarm&qid=1624857232&sr=8-7

There's #8 fuse under the hood, don't quote me but also check #2 fuse inside the car. But if you already have the door panel off just check power at the wires going into the module. I'm writing this for anyone else who has issues. I know this comment is 4 months old.
@1982sketcher2 жыл бұрын
Try another module from the junkyard, ive had false positives with 2.

my Crown Vic suddenly doesn’t know that the driver door is closed when it IS closed. It keeps the courtesy light on the driver door on constantly as well as a light under the dashboard and the dome light on the ceiling. They never turn off. I had to pull the #8 fuse from the under-dash panel to turn all those things off, so the battery wouldn’t run down. But now I have no electric locks without that fuse in place. When the fuse is in place everything appears to work except the door not knowing when it is closed so it knows to deactivate all the courtesy lights. I guess those things stay on indefinitely if the car thinks the door is open, so i need to fix whatever went bad. What does that sound like went bad on my car? Why doesn’t my car know when the driver door is closed?
@JackofAllMasterofNone2 жыл бұрын
Door switch sounds like
@adamiusrex2 жыл бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone , where is that?
@adamiusrex2 жыл бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone , i guess i must have located it because i took the panel off the door and played around with the hardware and wires neer the catch and i noticed some stuff that i think should enable a diagnosis from someone who knows this system more than i do. as far as i can tell, there are two “subroutines” that that door switch triggers. One is that when that switch tells the car that the door is open, it tells the car to ding a bell if the keys are in the steering column, to help remind you not to close your door and lock your keys in the car. The other is that when that switch tells the car that the door is open, it tells the car to turn on the dome light and the underdash courtesy light and the door courtesy light (and when that switch tells the door that the door is closed, it tells the car to turn off all those dome lights and courtesy lights…usually after about a five second pause, unless someone turns the key in the ignition to start the car, which i think usually kills the dome and courtesy lights even faster, if i recall.) The five second delay before deactivation (and then soft fade out if there was no key turn) seems like instructions that must be coming from a microprocessor, which makes me think that the door module is involved in these subroutines. The other new piece of information I discovered that makes me think the problem is in my door module and not my door switch is this: when i leave my keys in my ignition, there is no dinging when the door is closed, but when i OPEN my door with the keys in the ignition, it starts dinging. So it seems like the door switch must work. But weirdly, the car DOESN’T seem to know that the door is closed when it makes the decision whether to activate or deactivate the courtesy lights. So that must be a good door switch but a bad door module, right?
@adamiusrex2 жыл бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone omg, disregard it all. I discovered the issue. This car has a switch i didnt know about. if you push on the headlight dial on the dashboard, it activates all the dome and courtesy lights. i dont recall ever having pushed on it but maybe i accidentally did once before i closed the door, when those lights were already activated, so i didnt see anything change by having bumped against that dial, and only noticed something different once i closed the door and they didnt turn off. i started scrutinizing all the switches and i see some rubbed out illegible words under that switch but one of those words looked like it was “push” and i didnt even know that was a push switch, so i pushed it and that fixed the problem!
