I have the QT 60 and love it !! The noise filters work great ! just have to set at right level or makes people sound funny . Draws in the 10 amp rainge . Does run portable on 20AH LiFePO4 battery hours at a time. All them are super radios. The QT 60 is replaced with the PRO now. just shorter . The QT 80 PRO is super nice. draws 15 amps full power. From several I know that have them they run cooler than the old AT 6666 model. I did a park to park on my QT 60 . NY to England . Homemade wire antenna and wrapped my own toroide 4:1 and shortened 25 ft to tune. Got 1.1 SWR 28.074 MHZ . I can tune 1.5 SWR or less on CB band. Vertical ground mount with 4 radials . Great DX antenna. The park to park was SSB on 10 meter. POTA ! I haven't got heatsink very warm yet. The QT 60 runs cool ! I never run full power. I am on battery ! . Digital modes does heat it up . but I keep power down like 15 watts or less. FT8 is high duty cycle mode. But I have sent SSTV at 50 watts no problems. I even used the T2LT coax antenna and it works great ! To bad the UK does not have a weather station like US and Canada does. Saves lives . The QT 60 and 80 have weather RX . Glad to see you using the noise filters. They help ! much better than old CB ones. Love the audio on them newer radios like the CRT SS 9900 and others. Cheers from NY !

Hi FRED not wrote much lately , but always putting the thumbs up for you mate. I’ve been doing a lot of DXING the last couple of days and wow been going crazy. Loving it. But I’m always forget that you lot are on the 305 , sorry , Anyway we got 43 years coming up very quickly hopefully we can get a copy if the day is a good one. One more thing I’ve got the new 9900 and yea still getting hot, but FM is straight raw power, which I know you know all this. But just saying AM ssb its not as hot as the power goes up and down as well you know. Anyway thought I catch up and say something about the lovely sound I love my rig. Ps except for the buton sometimes doesn’t seem to like the number’s. Not all the time just every now and then. Sorry for the big message. Thanks again Alan.Take care of yourselve and yours, 🇬🇧💯👍

Crt,Anyone's etc you can upgrade the voltage regulator to a larger one or add a heatsink to the side of chassis just above. Another way is to move the regulator to the back by the finals the jumpers.

Thanks Fred any advice will be greatly appreciated. Ken

Hi. Looks like the distance is around 6 miles so if you get the radio set up with a good SWR reading you should make that. Also that radio can be easy to mod to around 16-18 watts of power. See here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWPOYqCibLOXrrM Best of luck and listen on sat night on UK FM channel 27

I love all things radio, especially CB radios. With these newish laws regarding mobile phone use in vehicles, can you get nicked for using a CB radio mic whilst driving?

In theory yes you can. Taxi driver used to open a door for us in the law but they use headsets now.
