italian QRP station strikes again.
@johnharrison373Күн бұрын
QRP is generally used to indicate transmission using a low power TX, usually 5 watts or under.

In the states we deal with this type of stuff every day. People running 5-10 kilowatts and blocking the channel most of the day. Anymore you need 3 kilowatt just to talk 20 miles to your local group just so they can hear you. It's sad really. I remember being excited about talking 100 miles on a stock 4w radio. Sadly you can't do that anymore around here with all the high powered people blocking airwaves.

On the HAM bands we get a lot of QRM’ers, particularly if they see you doing a live stream. Their favourite trick at the moment is to record your transmission and play it back at high power. Always ignore, don’t engage and hope they go away. Chances are on 11m they probably can’t hear you anyway.
@anaspatel3625Күн бұрын
Hi Fred they are italians from the sound of it you can tell from the distinctive split second bleep at the end of each transmission they use crazy power some of them using 24V burners probably 1KW plus. Most of them are mobiles. I could hear them in Bodrum when I was on holiday 3 weeks a go. Their home channel is channel 5 on the high block 24.465 AM sometimes some of them migrate to channel 5 mid block 27.015 but you'll find them all over the place. A lot of them are from the Palermo area. In Italy they call it the "grandi modulatori" basically the US superbowl on channel 6 mids.
@tepon1faniКүн бұрын
In Southern Finland we have pretty much all radio comms bands overrun with random French radio stations rebroadcasted at full power from passing cargo ships. CB, VHF, airband, even airport localizers. These transmissions sound exactly the same. If you think about this even for a minute you will figure out the who and why.

i like having fun from time to time but blocking out the whole channel for everyone is just wrong.
@johnnorth9355Күн бұрын
When propagation is high this kind of thing can happen and south Europe/South America is often the source and the power may be not as great as you assume - I could be wrong on that last point lol. As for the Ham bands - we do get similar and there is just as little that can be done about international QRM. The best bet is to ignore it and reconvene on a pre planned fall back frequency. 73 M7BLC.
