Your English is very good. Don't worry if you didn't use the exact right word when you edit it later. A wrong word here and there makes you memorable and interesting to listen to.

+saarike Thanks :) I can't consider myself as an expert, I'm just a hobbyist who likes to repair such TV's. Most problems with them are nothing but ridiculous, but sometimes they can turn into a rabbit hole to hell :D
@saarike8 жыл бұрын
I agree that things can go very difficult to solve. Still I consider that it is very difficult to find such problems as you did :). Nice that you have made CRT videos. There is not so much videos about those marvelous devices and it's technics. Thanks!MrJohhhnnnyyy

saarike I have some footage of me repairing old USSR made TV, over 30 minutes in a bazillion of short clips which I have to edit together :) I'll upload it on next Monday, since right know I don't have access to speedy Internet connection. Now I make a video of every CRT TV that I get to repair, but unfortunately, they don't come to me very often, thus I can't upload vids regularly.

Hello. One of my CRT TVs once worked then suddenly the following happened: When I press the power button, the TV only emits a high pitch sound and screen doesn't display anything. The CRT itself showed no symptoms of wear or failure before that despite over 25 years of use. Could it be the failure of capacitors,either on the power supply or at the FBT side? I can't find anybody who would do the repair and can't buy a new one due to space constraints.Thus I will have to do the repair myself. Thanks.
@mrjohhhnnnyyy57973 жыл бұрын
It usually does that when the Horizontal Output Transistor is shorted. Make sure the TV is unplugged and has been for an hour or so, for the capacitors to discharge

i have a monitor with the same issue i however don't know where to find the service manual for my monitor's model usually would tell you what to look out for. ie parts and such.
@Raz820002 жыл бұрын
I know I'm late but besides shorted Horizontal Out Transistor, it could faulty jungle ic. 90's toshiba crts are known to do that because sync separator are not inside the jungle ic thus the horizontal section keep oscillating.

@live2digmetal8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I'm curious as to how you can measure ESR on a normal analogue multimeter? I thought special ESR meter is required for this? Best wishes.
@mrjohhhnnnyyy57978 жыл бұрын
+live2digmetal No, that's not an ordinary multimeter (if you look carefully, you'll see an absence of range switch). I made a little circuit that can measure ESR and it requires 50uA movement, so I bought this cheap meter and gutted it out. Very good candidate - you have a case, a movement and jacks to connect test leads for 2$, score :D Schematic: ludens.cl/Electron/esr/esr.html

+Shoyaib Patel mrjohhhnnnyyy-at-yahoo.com Replace "-at-" with a proper symbol, I've done so to prevent spambots flooding the inbox. Most of the time we call that board "neckboard", the red wire you're talking about comes from flyback transformer and goes to G2, am I right? If yes, that's so called screen voltage, it's pretty high, so be careful not to zap yourself.

You didn't mention age/make of set... or if it's a crt or flat screen! BUT it may be cold solder in/ around your video processor, or the video processor chip itself, a bad cap/ xstr in same circuit, check your connectors as well bot on PC Bd. Check Connector(s) on back of CRT or to Display. CRT set? Check driver xstrs on PC bd, on rear of CRT. If all is good, check CRT or your display. It's sort of hard to real give you a narrow checklist as you didn't mention anything about your set, other than a red pic. You should try tapping your main pc bd lightly with the handle of a screwdriver... you may be surprised.good luck.
@3butalcomp37 жыл бұрын
I don't know how experienced you are in TV Repair, I really meant to start with this, sorry: >>Before doing any work on your set -while it's off- make sure to discharge your CRT (if you have one), and the areas in your power supply that are relatively high in voltage..Your CRT is capable of shocking the hell out of you for months since the set has even been powered up. *** If the TV is on, and you accidentally come in contact with the High Voltage with ONE hand, the other hand away- completely isolated and behind your back... you will be thrown a few feet, and you should go to the hospital & get checked out. If your other hand also was in contact with the set you will be unable to let go & more than likely be killed. -Be very careful

Your video would be more watchable if you used a tripod.
@mrjohhhnnnyyy57978 жыл бұрын
I agree, but first of all, I use the phone to film the video, and getting a tripod for it is tricky. Second thing is that I have to move a camera a lot to show how the TV behaves, then show how the board looks like. Some of my videos where the device under repair fits easily on the bench are almost shake-free because I use a so-called third hand to hold the phone still :) Point taken, I will try to film with the camera fixed. Thanks for watching!

Chris Michael First, I'm from Ukraine, not Russia. Second, yes people here have LCD's and what not. But I live in rural area, so not everybody has new TV's here. This TV's may be outdated, but they are easier and cheaper to fix.

Ha! I've got 2 HD LCDs at home and I have to tell you that my old color TV has a better image and color than any HD TV I've seen so far. Also, here in Europe, people don't like the north american style of "it broke, I'll buy a new one" mentality.
