In my line of work, we spend about 3 monthes annually cut off from support in the mountians of the PNW, 1 bit of gear I always carry is a heat source (and i dont mean lighter). Something like a jetboil or sterno at somebodies feet and a tarp wrapped around can save a life. Wet conditions and chilly temps is a killer. More than once me and my coworkers have saved someones butt that let their core body temp drop to dangerous lows using this method. Just food for thought.

I’ve done lots of hunts down there. It can be a lot of fun! It’s been cold this year, but hopefully it starts to green up a bit more for the bears , still a lot of brown here!

Excellent and thorough overview of your gear list and the reasons why instead of just saying that you use this. I wish both you and Sophie safe travels and I know you both will have a grand adventure with plenty of memories made. I would love to head to Alaska for a big game hunt someday soon that includes black bears 🐻. If I can get everything lined up and improve my finances tremendously I plan on doing a spring bear 🐻 hunt in Wyoming next spring in the area that I plan on drawing a mule deer 🦌 tag 🏷️ so that I will know the area much better come fall. This fall however I applied for Utah general deer 🦌 and limited muzzleloader pronghorn and even bag dumps like this help me think of things I might need.
