Don, I can’t pinpoint why, but I love your videos, despite never having been on a cruise in my life (I am in my 60’s, married, and empty nest) and having no concrete plans to do so. I am a New Yorker and appreciate your Canadian accent and your overall positive outlook on seeking to make your passion a reality. If I were ever to book a cruise, I would take your recommendations to heart. You are an inspiration in how you travel and share the joy with your viewers.

The U.S. has placed a higher alert level to visitors calling on Nassau. It is imperative that Nassau must clean up crime to retain cruise ship visits.

On a recent cruise we saw a problem that the cruise lines maybe don’t realize. Cruising from Los Angeles, they search your bags and have drug sniffing dogs, the first stop on the cruise is Catalina Island which is part of California and Marijuana is legal, so people were buying there and bringing it back to the ship where there were no drug sniffing dogs when coming back to the ship. The cruise ships need to fix this oversight.

I remember renting a scooter on Cozumel and found speed bumps all over. These speed bumps are iguanas sunning themselves on the pavement. I can't imagine the tricky steering on a motorcycle if you run over one of these. Dangerous indeed. My condolences to the family of the cruisers that died while having fun on the his sunny isle. This should not happen.

The couple you're speaking about are from the Hampton roads area of Virginia which is the 7 cities of Southeastern Virginia and it's a very big local story here and it's sad to hear what happened to a couple specially a local couple

Trauma nurse here. I swear by this: Never ever rent a scooter, motorcycle, ATV when in a 3rd world country. Have taken care of many tourists that had to be air lifted to us from Mexico due to this. Delay in care and huge cost. Many times the money for LifeFlight needs to be paid upfront. Not many people have $10-40,000 kicking around to pay this. At least get travel insurance!

Hi Don This is not related to your subject but have been curious about something No one ever mentions Holland American we have sailed with them three times everything was wonderful food fantastic beautiful ships professional staff spacious bathrooms when my daughter was 10 she enjoyed club HAL Danced for hours in BB King lounge I know the😮 water parks are great but there is more to it Great excursions foreign places new cultures so much to see You can do that at home six flags hurricane harbor Anyway thanks for listening Hats off to Holland American very classy

Great video, Don, and I totally agree with you about that TikTokers on that cruise and about the people trying to smuggle Wacky weed on the ship they don’t catch the smart ones so my condolences to the family and friends of a couple who were killed in Cozumel. I’m so sorry I just don’t understand with all that’s going on why people wanna rent vehicles in those places and they’ve been told time and time again they are not maintained well. Those people rent them just want the money. well-take care.

OMG! I had a horrible experience in Tahiti. Cab driver only spoke French Bad idea! US Insurance does not cover you! Mexican Authorities will confiscate your passport and you have to pay all cost associated with your accident before you can leave their country

Just one quick thing to add (as I am in the business) if someone has a warrant from the fed's, a state, county, or local municipality that has been entered into NCIC it should pop up and the person should expect to be detained by the authorities at the cruise port, Customs, or the airport just as you have said Don. Next the detaining agency must first contact the issuing agency to see if the issuing agency will confirm on said warrant, and in the example, you gave Don it appears no doubt that the issuing agency wanted the person taken into custody for extradition. However, there are times when not necessarily does it mean a person with an active warrant is automatically going to jail and can't get on the cruise boat. Now a days many U.S. jurisdictions will refuse to confirm on very common Class "C" Misdemeanor Warrants because of the on-going national problem of jail over-crowding; people not having funds for bail; the bail reform movement in many U.S. states; and haggling amongst jurisdictions over who pays the jail stay bill for a person with a minor non-violent offense (usually not paying speeding tickets or not paying a ticket fine for violations of local ordinances). Then what happens? The issuing agency does not want them, and the arresting agency has no other reason to detain them (unless they have broken another law), so the party gets released with a stern warning to pay their bill. And hopefully they didn't not miss their cruise boat or flight to the cruise port. They probably will again have fun if they have to go through US Customs on their return back to the US however.

I watched a lot of KZbinr cruise videos (especially Don, Tony, Emma, Gary, Ilona...) before I went on my first cruise and felt I had so much information the actual procedures and cruise expectations were a lot easier to handle and understand. But I guess I was in an exclusive group since I was able to find them on this format. Well, now if you need any info on cruising, the secret is out!! Sorry I let the cat out of the bag. And as for these imbeciles who claim they are allowed wacky weed on the cruise ship, um...okay, you really think your California card works in interational waters or ports? Good work, Port Authority Doggies!

If it is legal to have a certain amount of substance X at port of departure, I am curious on legal aspect. Cruise line might have ability to prevent you from boarding, but woudln't be able to call police to have you arrested since you are still in a jurisdiction where it is legal to have X. And if they had been able to board with their few kilos of medicinal plants, and had they smoked all of it during the trans-atlantic journey (or handed free cannabis to all passengers sicne they had so much), then by the time they arrived in UK, they would not have any left to import in UK and not have problems with the law.

My condolensces to the family and friends! I made a promise to myself I'd not take a motorcycle or scooter ride if I could get out of it. I also don't exactly trust Mexico too much. However, to be honest, I don't trust drivers where I live either. Some of them really make me question how they got their driver's license in the first place. I know that the people who lost their loved ones will probably never see this comment. And deaths do happen nearly daily it seems. Sad really that life happens and this is sometimes the result. May we have a day without a preventable death. I'm not saying this one was preventable. Just hoping for less deaths.

90+ cruises around the world, including many trips to the famous mexico destinations. dumb people do dum things. sad they died but lets be real. not safe. they should advise not to do those excursions that are especially not a part of the ships itinerary.
