I am a travel nurse and spent 6 months working as the hospital nursing supervisor in Ketchikan. It was amazing. The town looked very similar to the town you showed in this video. The port of Ketchikan is an actual rain forest and on the cruise ship route either the first or last stop from Seattle. That's still 2+ days on the Alaskan Marine Highway Ferry. Saw a lot of patients from the cruise ships. Loved my time there and got to do so many things in those 6 months. I think salmon fishing was my favorite. If Alaska is on your bucket list, I highly recommend it!

About 50 years ago in the month of June, I was lucky to visit with my uncle in Juneau Alaska for an entire month. What an experience! He was in the Coast Guard’s. It was so different and before all the tourists. I was even lucky to go fishing 2 days seeing whales and beautiful eagles. I will never forget the beauty.

Hubby and I went on the White's Pass and Yukon Railway when we cruised into Skagway last August. It was so late in the season we didn't see any snow at all and the weather was gray and rainy but we had the best time. Hubby was like you two and hung out on the platforms between the cars taking pics of the wilderness. I stayed inside and listened to the lady who was talking about the history of the railway and the Goldrush and the Yukon trail and men and women who traveled it. Breathtaking scenery, gorgeous train, fabulous excursion! We didn't do the passport thing into Canada, though. We rode to the top of the line and into Canada, barely, and then came right back down again in a big loop. I love following your adventures, David and Ben. Thanks for sharing with us!❤❤❤

there is a big difference when you get to have a beautiful sunny day like this versus a cloudy, gloomy, possibly rainy or snowy day on the train. You were right to take that back compartment. When we went on the train, we were just in the middle, and the views were not as spectacular. We've also taken the bus to Emerald Lake twice from a private company, which is a lot cheaper and has a guide who will tell you all about what you were seeing. apparently there are problems with the train, and it might become unavailable for a while., if so, take the bus to Emerald Lake.

We loved Alaska, it was our first cruise. We were supposed to do this trip but it broke down part way and people had to be rescued! I’ve never been so glad as I know I would have been scared when we saw the track. We had a replacement coach trip and part refund instead which was also fun. It went to the border of Canada and how people navigated across that land years ago was unbelievable, it was bleak and we were there in good September weather not winter. Lovely seeing Skagway again

We sailed Alaska with Disney just about a month after you guys were there - Skagway was my favorite port day purely because of the White Pass & Yukon Train excursion. If anyone is planning their own trip, I highly recommend booking this trip through Chilkoot Charters. We were also on the back train car with a very small group, then our trip continued up into the Yukon Territory on a mini-bus with only 8 passengers. We had a great tour guide taking us to some really pretty stops in Canada and on the way back down into Skagway (and avoided that feeling of being herded like cattle on the cruise line excursion). But some of the most beautiful views I’ve seen anywhere!

You two put a smile on my face this entire show. I love Skagway. Also went to doughboy and the salon. Our train went up and down the mountain. We also did a town tour with a salon lady with was so fun. So glad you finally made it to Alaska and yes I know it won't be your last. ❤
