Used to be a railroad line along this 101 mile route. I hopped a freight from Twin Falls, ID to Wells, NV in August 1965 on my way home from a 6 month tour of Europe. Had to ride the whole way between 2 boxcars as no other open or flat cars were on this freight train. It snowed, rained and I was glad to get to Wells and the main east-west line.

Wells exists because it is along the Transcontinental Railroad. It is also the location of the source of the Humboldt River, a bunch of artesian wells, thus the name Wells. My great aunt owned the Shell Crest Motel in Wells back before the interstate was built. It was a nice motel back then. We made two trips from Nashville TN to visit when I was a kid. Epic journeys for me and great memories. The Humboldt River runs out into the Great Basin and dries up.

Got this from a driver friend: As states have closed truck stops and rest areas to curb the number of people on the road, getting a quick bite to eat has gotten harder. How are you doing in that department? Stay safe and well. At least the traffic isn't as bad so there is a blessing! You know Congress is not going to give itself term limits even if they should be in place and are badly needed.

Kathy Wolf As a non American I find the whole political situation in America open to corruption for the simple fact if ur standing for the senate,congress or even the presidency u need financial backers to fund you. Now let’s be honest no big business are going to fund nobody who plans on working against them are they? Where as over here in the UK u don’t fund the individual you fund a particular political party you don’t even know what candidate is standing in a particular area most of the time till the election is underway. That cuts down on corruption a lot but saying that we are talking about politicians an no matter what party u support u know they’ll always find a way to make a dollar out of the workin stiff always av always will Oh stay safe stay in this virus thing as no sense of humour

G"day mike, Yeah I hear you about gov selling of manufacturing to china, Here in Australia our gov has done the same. Our stupid gov sold of some of our largest dairy farms to china & least of our shipping ports for 99 years,so now they don't have to take all the baby milk powder from supermarkets like they were doing now they just ship it Direct without touching Australia. Plus they sold all our manufacturing as we had our own steel manufacturing now it is all gone. It is happening all over the world,countries that were independent had to help third nation countries now these Countries are 1 st world countries & are all laughing at the Rest. Keep up the good work & stay safe.

They'd come out with coffee and get you up. Dont find that kind of service anymore i bet. Truck safe bud

We run this route every year. Great road. You mentioned seeing a lot of police. Well, I ran US93 1 week before you, and the road was closed between Ely and Wells. A State Trooper was murdered by some lowlife, and the SWAT team was out looking for him. Perhaps these were police coming for a service. We ask a great deal from our Police services, but no family should have to endure such a loss. I had to make a 300 mile detour thru Salt Lake, but it was minor compared to that loss. Stay safe, everyone, and support everyone who has to be working -- drivers and police alike.

The very minute a politician decides to be a career politician, he/she is immediately in a conflict of interest. Virtually every action they take, every thing they say, every position they take, every vote they cast on a piece of legislation has to be done with a view toward how it weighs on reelection. In other words, everything they do is self serving, and the good of the people and the good of the nation slides far down the priority list.
@chsmithins4 жыл бұрын
The minute a politician decides to run for reelection, he/she is wanting his/her career as a politician to continue. He/she becomes a career politician as he/she wants the career as a politician to continue. Don't vote for Trump.
@chsmithins4 жыл бұрын
Seriously, though, I do agree that politicians have skewed the system toward making reelection too easy for incumbents. Too many times, too, voters tend to become lazy and vote for incumbents mainly because they recognize the name. That helps explain how even candidates who have died prior to election day have won reelection.

This was relaxing. The view of the mountains from the distance with the clouds circling it was very nice. You didn't say if you caught a fish. I figure you didn't. It seems like you may have been in the vicinity of the big 6.5 earthquake in Boise. If you were did you feel it? I always go to "Myshake" app to record "Did you feel it". I do this for little ones, big ones and even ones I didn't feel if it was near me. I figure I am contributing to research. I did feel the one not long ago near Lake Tahoe. I have to update you on "The Virus" in my area. My husband gets out most days running errands and even went fishing with our former neighbor/friend. They didn't catch anything either. The lake was packed. I know people aren't social distancing. Today I learned my sister in FL is sewing masks for her daughter's boyfriend who is an RN at a nearby hospital. She is making them for however many she can make at a given time. We also learned my husband's sister in Westminster, CA is making some to for her daughter-in-law as she is almost an RN. She told us she will mail us up 2. I told her how the day prior we went running errands, I was wearing my grandson's old Boy Scout bandana and my husband had nothing. We will see if he wears her masks since she is making it special for us. Tomorrow is Friday....be safe.....Q.....things happen on Fridays.
