This is our trawler life story.
We retired early and decided to make a big change. We sold everything and moved aboard our 54' Cheoy Lee passagemaker, a “go anywhere in the world”, ocean going power boat.
That was in 2014 and we have never looked back.
Now in our late 50's we are free of work and we are living aboard and cruising our trawler full time.
We have two additional crew members, feline brothers, Blake and Barkley. Yes, we have two brave (sorta) boat cats, on board!
Join us and our crew, on our adventures as we explore new places, discover more about our trawler and what makes her work, and learn more about ourselves in our young retirement years. Our hope is to entertain and inspire you to pursue your own passions through telling our story of our cruising trawler lifestyle.

If you find your way in SB again, spend the day there and detour to the Channel Islands, Pelican Bay is an amazing Anchorage on Santa Cruz. You can easily spend a week going around the islands and go to/from Catalina offshore if conditions are nice then tuck into Marina Del Rey Fair winds

Weather looks extreme down in Cabo right now. Hope you guys are hunkered down tight in Ensenada. Looks like a major blow to the south.

All went well in Ensenada. Saw 45-50 knots of wind in the marina, which is not a problem for Sea Venture.

Dana point was a great place to go surfing before the marina was made

We saw that. There were a variety of displays and story boards in the area describing and showing the surf before the marina was built. It looks like many considered it the best surfing in California at the time.

looks like you have to plan your marina stays carefully it seems there full all the time .safe travels

You do, especially if you need a bigger slip. The marinas in California, for a variety of reasons, have had little expansion or upgrades over the years and they tend to have very few slips over 50'. We need a 60' slip, so it takes a little planning. In Mexico, we needed to reserve a slip a year in advance . . . Thanks for watching, Jim

Hi Arne, retrieving the paravanes are in a lot of the videos. I think coming up, when we pull into Ensenada you will see me do it in a video. We basically just drag them back to the side of the boat and pull them up by hand. Thanks for watching, Jim

Once again, thank you so much for sharing your adventures with the world. I have always wanted to do what you two are doing with my oldest brother but, alas, he "jumped the fence". Looking at the yachts in Ventura Harbor, one can't escape the thought of: "I wonder how many millions of dollars are floating there nicely in a row" because those aren't cheap ones.

There are offshore bottlenose dolphins in California. The large pod you saw were common dolphins.

Unfortunately, we have already passed Oceanside. We are now in Ensenada, Mexico. Before Sea Venture we had a 45' Puget Trawler for 15 years. Great Boat. Thanks for watching. Jim

Ah I see. However, that was limited to the coastal areas of Keauhou-Kona on the island of Hawai'i (BIG Island). Must have missed it, being deep sea fishing then. Others that I have talked to knew nothing here, on O'ahu.

Complaint: I chased the sound with my volumne control the whole video. Sometimes speech sounded like it was coming out of a barrel or pipe. Other times was blasted too loud with your action music (I hate all loud action music no matter who is doing it) and also times voices too weak (far off). Then some of the video the camera was moved around to fast. I did like tranversing the California coast. I have been a fan for quite a few years. The content was good, but the production was lousy. Sorry, but thats the way I experienced it.
