Hello everyone!
This episode is meant to be a bookend to our video series: Sailing Washington to Mexico.
In this video, we cover our 77 day sailboat trip from Washington State to San Diego, California. We go over our route, lessons learned, we look at the metrics and discuss the trip and conditions we encountered.
We learned a ton on this trip and have lots to stay about how it went.

Yea, that's a tough stretch to San Fran, but completely worth it for the cruising that's south of there. Thanks for watching!

That Washington/Oregon/NorCal section was rough, but the cruising in Mexico is AMAZING. So worth the trek down here. We've seen some growth over the years- you've been with us since very early on! Thank you for your support!

Yes, a cutter rig would be nice but with the Portland Pudgy on the foredeck it would be difficult to have a fractional removable inner forestay that could be attached to the foredeck or stored at the bottom of the mast, or off to the side on the toe rail. If the forestay is not removable, the genoa and genoa sheets will tend to hang up on the inner forestay for the staysail. With an inner forestay, Pudgy would have to hang from the davits, which can get complicated depending on conditions. Good video - thanks.

Right now, our plan is to install a removable inner forestay. That's our wish any ways. We've got a big list of upgrades to make next season so we'll see if it happens or not. The pudgy on the front definitely presents problems... but we're not getting rid of that! We love our pudgy!

Thanks for watching! Good luck on your trip- our San Diego video has more of the regulations on the various anchorages around LA and San Diego. Very confusing and populated area down there, but there are options for anchoring!

Yes, that is a japanese fish print. It's an artist we met in La Paz, Mexico. Great guy and great work. Here is the link to his store: www.etsy.com/es/shop/AdriGyotaku?fbclid=PAAaakSK15rIDi_CrNxgj3_HjleYt7st--w_w2arDPceuVTmCw9-64c0cYIVQ&load_webview=1&bid=-gbcJXprDH1SX_pFL08vExi9-IhV

Nice! -- BUT == It seems from watching your videos that your sailboat isn't a comfortable ride in wavy water. Kinda surprised about that since it looks super strong and has that Alberg old-school reputation. But it just seems to toss people around in anything but smooth water and makes you seasick quickly. Looked perfect on the BC coast when the water was super smooth and you were motoring.
@CruisingMaya
@CruisingMaya Жыл бұрын
Maya being our first boat we don't have much to compare in terms of rolliness. It was rough and exhausting out there on that northern stretch of water. We won't be signing up to do that stretch north of San Fran again any time soon!
